    The point with the badger is that we have our type of badgers, and americans have a different type of badger which isn't really as badger-like.  When the word "badger" comes up, different species are likely to pop into our respective minds.  Same with the robin. A robin here is a totally different type of bird to the one over there.  Such things are good indicators of nationality.
