  • Well, I learned far more than I hoped to, tonight. I'm gonna go to bed. Later y'all.
  • Glaives are better.
Except for radical sports. They're only annoying because of their association with the X-treme marketing craze.
  • Aren't they still aggressive, pushy and irritating anyway, in that case? Just more socially accepted because of its relative harmlessness.

I was getting sick of waiting for somebody to make the relevant "All anime nerds wish to emulate kamina to get self-esteem" speech, to cue TTGL fans to say "NO U"

If I wanted self esteem from emulation of a fictional character i'd choose Gilgamesh from Fate/Stay Night.

If I wanted self esteem I would buy it. With Cash.

If I wanted self esteem, I'd steal it from Vorpy.

  • You can change. You can.
If I wanted self esteem, I'd just look in the mirror.

  • Glaives are better.
Because if he wanted self-doubt, he'd look at his feet. It's obvious.

    So relevant.

just post the url by itself.
  • Let me get this straight if you will.

    Warships are considered 'manly'

Yet are referred to with a feminine pronoun (she)

    ...
  • Qualities categorized as manly/womanly are a cultural repetition, not inherent, changing the terms is too much of a hassle and isn't going to change the perception of sexists anyway. /thread
  • --yawn--

I feel slightly. better now. Lost most of my anger towards the thread (turns out, I just have a strong dislike for the OP), although in-general-manly-celebration still bugs me, but it's back to the level where it's an omnipresent under current, and thus I don't feel the need to complain about it.

    Whooh.

I'll still stand for what I said though. So if you still wanna argue, go right on ahead.

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
"Yeah, but I don't feel comfortable with most female tropers. Much less straight female tropers. -shrug-

I don't see how I'm being particularly discriminative, if you don't like such a thread existing, it's fine, I already pointed out its flaws. Doesn't mean I won't have fun with it. "

    ...

Because, in saying you don't feel comfortable with most female tropers, you are generalizing it to a gender, not to a personal trait.

Or, in other words; in saying that sentence, you have implied that you are not treating the women on the website as individuals, but rather as a group, and avoiding them, without taking into account that the group is made up of people, not blank people with traits loaded into them.

Personally, I'm choosing to believe that you meant that most of the female individuals on the forum make you uncomfortable.

"Manliness is preferable to femininity. I'm completely serious about this. Traits associated with testosterone - confidence, ambition, perseverance, self-awareness - are attractive in either gender. And although I dislike stupid displays of machismo, I find traditional femininity disgusting."

Is it worth pointing out that one of the traits usually associated with masculinity is stubbornness and a belief that you are always right, and one of the concepts associated with femininity is compassion, or will it just devolve into a flame war?

    Pretty much so.

    Much better.
  • Quit being a whiny bitch and man up.
^^Actual females or are you including the ones who think they are?

    EXTREME IRONING
  • There exists a woman up thread.
  • Erock's an arsehole, he started the "The fact feminists still bitch in the west" topic, a topic with a title that put its foot in its own mouth.

Chagen, you seem to dedicate more time to blasting "feminazis" than you do of praising these "real feminists" you seem to talk about so much, why don't you show you mean it and turn that around?
  • Quit being a whiny bitch and man up.
    Man up people.
  • Likes cheesecake unironically.
This is IJBM, you are wrong here.

Not that this ever stopped you.
