    Another possible link is that both internet crushes and waifus don't force one to change oneself at all. Stepping into the dating scene forces one to work out one's character flaws and bad habits first if a person wants to have any success, while an e-relationship largely avoids this problem(since working out a bad habit merely means not bringing it up at all, etcetera).


    But meh, armchair psychology. Don't let it sit in the way of what makes you happy.
