The trope "Ethical Slut".

  • What bugs me about that page is that its writeup is like eight times longer than it needs to be

It's a trope launched by Xzenu. ALL His tropes are like that. The guy cannot be Laconic to save his life. Go through his tropes. Check the list. Find one with a description less than half a page long.

^Oh, that guy. Yeah, he's one of those people who likes making YKTTWs a lot more than is reasonable.
  • I think he's had a dozen tropes go to TRS after launch. Often coz his wordy as all fuck descriptions are impossible to understand. Or they have dumb names who have nothing to do with the definition like "Strange Pond Lady"
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
Xzenu looks like a bitch. He should know that it's hard to fit examples into such rigid categories.

He used to be worst. There was a time he'd make YKTTW in "packages", which could be related themes (say, Sexual fetishes or authority figures for example) or just that they shared a word in their names. Then he'd launch them all about the same time. Thing is, some of the tropes would have like, 5 replies. And people would be all confused what his notes saying "Part of the X package" meant

....packages? How would that even work? Like "This is Part 1 of Ethical Slut"?

    >I have trouble finding the sacredness in sex at all; ultimately, it's flesh against flesh, with some fluids at the end

I've never got on with this viewpoint. To (slightly mis)quote INUH:

    >some people see meals as a time of companionship where people come together and talk while eating.

Even though technically it's just breaking down food into nutrition particles with your mouth-bones and saliva. So who says it has to be that clinical definition and nothing else?

  • If I agreed to have sex with someone right now, without any compromises, would you think I'm a bad person?

No, but I would strongly condemn your actions.

Why? Because we had sex? A pleasurable activity between two people? There's nothing wrong with it as long as you respect the other person and make clear from the beginning that there's nothing more than pleasure going on.

    Because there's no love.

Sex without love is lame. Sex for nothing but pleasure is worthless hedonism. It is a facsimile, a shallow mockery, of sex.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
    Have you ever had sex?
  • You can change. You can.
To you it is. To the hedonist it's nothing but their lifestyle and mocking and insulting lifestyles just because you disagree with them is...well, I really have no words to describe it without sounding like a frothing madman.

    @Vorpy No, like

    "Utopia Justifies Nothing"

"Description that is confusing long and poorly worded"

"Part of the Divine Right  Package"
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
Blah....are there any articles remaining like that?
  • No. All the package stuff would be removed when he launched it, he wasnt gonna put that in the trope. There still some YKTTW floating with it, lemme dig one out/

INUH: No, because I believe that one should only have sex with their partner. Preferably their spouse and only their spouse.

I don't have a partner, so I will not have sex until I do get one.

    Has friends besides tanks now
@ Don: Well, it's really a matter of opinion. I do, personally, feel that it has great personal benefits and would not have sex with light motivation. I was just saying that there is technically no reason why religious/emotional motivation is objectively superior and stating what it was from a strictly physical standpoint. Meaningful =/= sacred. But I see where you're coming from and sympathize, is my point.

@Vorpy: you've been a bit...vocal about Chagen today. If you're ignoring him, ignore him.

@Chagen:But then aren't you (and I, for that matter) unqualified to refer to sex of any kind as "cheapened?"
  • How does one have sex without a partner? That's pretty much the only thing you need besides genitals.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
    ^^ What?
  • I meant romantic partner.

^^You've posted about how you're ignoring Chagen several times today, as well as making that post.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

No... It is an act of pleasure and reproduction. Like eating when you are not starving to death.
  • Insidently, Ethical Slut was part of the Consenting Adults Package.

    You can change. You can.
Sex is more of a need than just an act. You can block out that need, though.

But just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. Sexual repression is not fun.

Of course, there are asexuals, but let's not delve into that for the sake of keeping this argument.
  • Chagen: Speaking from a perspective of flings and casual relations and married relations your view is next to worthless.  Nothing was cheapened.  I had casual encounters with friends or with someone I was dating.  While dating I did not sleep with anyone else it was not cheapened.  I am now married and have found nothing wrong so far.
  • Mmm, sour grapes.

I have no sour grapes, only a certain sense of morality and theology.

Today's culture is sadly decedant and depraved.

Conflicting morals are the source of so many problems in the world it isn't even funny.

Also today's culture is generally a lot better than how it was before according to history books.

Anyway, you don't have to agree with what the trope description is saying, Rape Is Love is technically a trope that is supposed to be presented as sexy and good, regardless of how shitty it is as a concept in my eyes.
  • a little muffled
    @Chagen: Dude, aren't you making an H-Game?
