At about 1:45, when he's bowing down and fanning his tail (usually called a bow-coo dance in doves and pigeons), you'll hear a sound like a rubber band being plucked. In person, this sound is a loud boom. I think phone mics can't capture the sound, since they're not high quality most of the time.

My fiance and I saw one today, and I somehow impressed the pigeon and encouraged him to do the bow-coo dance. My fiance recorded this on his phone, and his phone barely seems to have captured the call. Weird, because it's so loud it makes the ground vibrate a little.

It hurts to watch the teeth crashing into each other in 1:05.
We studied somewhat in-deep cam-follower systems (for some reason), which was fine but it left no time for the other really funky mechanisms out there.
Edit: Maybe worm gears and quick recovery mechanisms count as funky too.

I get the notion that Doomer is a construct which never really existed. I mean, only ever more it feels like a simulacrum, but I'm gonna tell you, there was a time I could believe that at least some people lived like this.
