Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human

The game XIII will be removed from GOG's catalogue at the end of the year.

Someone suspects this may be due to a company called Anuman Interactive, for some reason.  (Last post of first page of that thread.)  I don't know anything else.

But yeah, if you want that game, get it now, for US$2.99, from GOG.

A friend at work recommended it to me one time, but that's all I can say.

  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
I have a friend who really likes those games, so I picked up the first one. Haven't played it yet, though.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

Oh, I should also post the obligatory reminder not to buy Towns.

  • Champion of the Whales

Is towns actually just the same as Majesty?

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

I'm unfamiliar with Majesty, but Towns is a very early prototype of a simplified Dwarf Fortress-ish thing, released as a full product ready for sale.

I'm going to say this now, do not buy Overlord. It's Pikmin without any of the charm or good gameplay.

  • a little muffled

Also, Fallen Enchantress is 50% off. Very good game.
I want this game. Not sure if I'm actually going to spend the $20 though.

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

    ^^Good to know.

^FWIW, it's the only game I've ever had to uninstall because I liked it so much I wasn't doing anything else in my free time.

Wound up voting for Grimrock because Recettear has been out longer and featured in more sales, and thus there are probably fewer people who want it but don't have it.

  • Champion of the Whales

I'm going to say this now, do not buy Overlord. It's Pikmin without any of the charm or good gameplay.

I don't know man, I actually liked Overlord

    a little muffled

FWIW, it's the only game I've ever had to uninstall because I liked it so much I wasn't doing anything else in my free time.
Yeah, I remember you saying that before. Not necessarily an argument in favour less than a week before school starts up again. I do certainly intend to get it eventually, probably in the summer sale if not now. Right now I have a bunch of DS games to play, and I dunno, $20 seems like a lot when I'm going to be playing this game at shit resolution on a tiny screen and having to quit every hour and half or so because the computer's overheating...

At this point I'm convinced that if I had a nicer computer I'd actually be a PC gamer.

Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!

^^I'd have to ask why, because while the dialogue was witty enough, the gameplay was a complete slog. Seriously, the level design is very poor and none of the environments are good enough to make up for it. I've had to quit levels so I could go back to first level and grind sheep to get enough souls to recover my army, multiple times.

Not to mention nearly everything in the game could be overcome by "have enough Brown Minions".

  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human

    I voted for Recettear!

  • a little muffled

Me too. Every time that game is on sale I think about getting it but then don't.

  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human

In the category of "hidden" sales, the non-T4 Tropico products have been discounted -75%.

That said, it appears that Indie Gala's store has Tropico 3 (just that by itself) for even cheaper.  I don't know how that site works though.

Other "hidden" sales include Saira, Rock of Ages, Analogue, and many other games.

  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!

Okay, fuck it. I'll buy Fallen Enchantress.

Should I buy the map pack too?

  • a little muffled

    Given that it's only $2.50 I can't really see why you wouldn't.

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

Nah. Once you get used to the game, random worlds are where the fun is.

EDIT: Oh, apparently it improves random maps too. I guess should get it >.>

  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human

    What's Fallen Enchantress?

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

Civilization, but magic (can't say how accurate that is because last time I played Civ I was 8, but...seems like it, anyway).

    a little muffled

Elemental, Fallen Enchantress has a single-player campaign, and a nonlinear "sandbox" game-play. Outside the campaign, players win by conquering or allying with other factions, fulfilling a master quest or casting a spell of making.

The player controls a pre-built or custom sovereign leading a faction; each has characteristics affecting game-play. The sovereign founds the factions capital and may then be sent to explore the world or govern the settlement. Multiple settlements can be built by pioneers, but city building sites may be far between. Settlements can research technologies, build military units or can build town improvements or harvest nearby resources. As settlements grow they can become towns, conclaves or fortresses specializing in economy, research or military might. Outposts can be built to harvest resources in places without city sites.

The sovereign or other recruited heroes may do quests to gain experience, gildar (the game's currency), or other benefits. Heroes may also fight alongside military units, hunting down some of the many beasts of the world, or interact with other AI-controlled players.

Military units can also be customized, allowing the player to make unique units that fits the current technology or resource level, reminding of Alpha Centauri.
Relatively similar, yeah, although there's no equivalent in Civ to the heroes.

Do not play the story campaign, by the way. It takes all the fun bits out of the game.
