  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

So, buying a character slot (600 something points), it apparently unlocks 3 extra character slots. So I have five now. :D

I also unlocked Warforged and Artificer.

I have 1210 points left. What should I spend them on?

  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean

how did you get so many points

also, the Monk class. Because lolmonks

  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean

actually, get a pet. Totally useless, yet awesome.

yea i make potions if ya know what i mean

In unrelated news I cannot figure out how to open the damn door in the Sacrifices quest on Korthos Island.

  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean

oh hey you apparently don't need to.

My reward for freeing half of the island? Goggles.

I got so many points with money. Specifically, fifty-odd dollars I had floating around that I wasn't doing anything with. (Well, technically I had seventy-five, but eh.)

Anyway, I ended up buying something different (two low-level adventure packs, level 3-4 and level... 5, I think), and a +3 Tome of Charisma for my Paladin when she reaches Level 11, which will grant her a permanent +3 Charisma at that level.

  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean

Oh that's right you can buy points.

Excuse me while I go derp.

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

Also, Artificers get an Iron Defender pet at Level One, and it actually attacks people and can take damage. :P

  • I'm a damn twisted person

It's okay. The quest after that rewards you with a pony. Then a few quests later you can start a quest chain that eventually branches off into an ARG. If you follow the steps along the way you will end up being registered to vote and may have helped a mostly benevolent AI fight off a demon called Bob and his gang of owls. And if you keep the goggles with you until endgame, they let you fuse your ultimate persona, providing you dredge up your original too as one of the ingredients.

You realize almost every class gets "Iron Companion" as a possible enhancement, right? >_>

I mean don't get me wrong, the Artificer Defender is probably upgradeable and whatnot, just saying it's not unique to that class.

I do not believe that any other class gets an Iron Defender Homunculus, though.

Druids get a Wolf Homunculus at higher levels, but only Artificers get an Iron Defender one, at Level 1.

  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean

That's what I meant by upgradeable and whatnot.

I will probably get the artificer class myself soonish. Not sure about the Warforged only because they seem like they're difficult to play as (can't use armor or healing potions, for one thing). I kinda want half-elves and maybe Half-Orcs for a Barbarian or something.

    Druids too.

blorgh, stuff. How much are turbine points, anyway?

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

    $8 for 600, $20 for 1,600, $35 for 3,150, $60 for 6,300, $100 for 11,000, $200 for 23,000.

  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean

    Hm.

Maybe I'll stick to unlocking a thing or two each paycheck, then.

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

I'll probably get the 3,150 or 6,300 every two to four weeks.

Also, fuck Kobold Assault. Kill 200 Kobolds? Swarmed by 20 of them at a time? Fuck errythin

  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean

    Actually, I loved that quest.

I solo'd it with my cleric and actually found it fairly simple. My advice is just buy every healing potion you can get your hands on, or just spam healing spells if you have any and don't use Spell Points for anything else. It's really just an endurance match.

Now the similar quest in the one house enclave is a totally different beast because AAAAUGH WHY DO HOBGOBLINS SUCK SO MUCH.

The only potions I can get my hand on are Starter Potions of Cure Light Wounds, which heal between 4 and 9 HP, and don't do jack shit for me while I'm moving, which sucks because Kobold Shamans wreck my shit.

I can quite happily dawdle on a road while being swarmed by 30+ Kobolds, because barely any of them are going to hit me and I can pick them off in a mad rush. But Kobold Shamans can hit for 1-3 damage, and it's virtually guaranteed they will, which sucks because like four of them spawn at once and I can't heal while rushing after them. By the time I kill them, I've lost more than half my health, and more spawn.

I also have no healing spells at this level.

I killed more than 50, but this is another of those quests which is supposed to be done by a group.

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

    Blah.

Doing Haverdasher on Hard Mode. It's not difficult, at all, but the last fucking scorpion won't spawn. :|

  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean

Speaking of difficulties, how do you redo quests when solo'ing?

    Or, don't you?

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

You just... talk to them and select 'repeat quest'.

  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean

    What seriously?

    Bah. I'm a doof.

  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean

I actually ran out of Sand during the Misery's Peak quest.

If you don't know what Sand is for, it's the spell component for most Wizard/Sorcerer spells. Luckily, Burning Hands works without it, so I was able to basically just torch everything.

Also, I have the Arcane Mind set now, which gives me +24 spellpower to everything. Which is just awesome. Also it involves fancy-ass goggles.

  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean

I have decided to sign up for Premium.

ten bucks a month isn't so bad when you consider I make about $500 a month and don't currently have any real bills to pay.

yea i make potions if ya know what i mean

Okay, I have never seen a game so determined to make it as difficult as possible for you to find out how the hell to get Premium access.

Do I do this through the Turbine site, or what? I have no interest in a LoTRO account, but this is apparently for both?

edit: Apparently what I want is actually VIP, I was confusing that and Premium. Point is, I WOULD LIKE TO SIGN UP FOR THIS SERVICE HOW DO I GIVE YOU MY MONEY. BECAUSE THROWING IT AT THE SCREEN ISN'T WORKING.

edit: oh hey, there we go.

Apparently it's actually $14.99 a month. Whatever, five bucks isn't going to make or break me, I don't think. Though I like to think I was smart by signing up for only one month at a time.

So, I know I told myself I wasn't going to play as a Warforged.

Then I saw the fact that I unlocked every class by becoming a VIP, and promptly said "Fuck it, Warforged Monk up in this bitch". Yes, it's the most impractical combination in the world, but it's awesome. Also, I named him Durandalus, you get 50 Lazulipoints if you get the reference.

edit3: I am going to again restate how this game seems to love to try to block you from actually buying anything from it.

  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean

    Guys help I've contracted altitis.

Also postingitis, but that's less important.

yea i make potions if ya know what i mean

Since I'm apparently the only person using this thread anymore, I'm just going to rant a bit about how goddamn stupid the account system for this game is.

You can pay 14.99 a month to get a VIP account and still not have any access to "Premium only" features, because Premium is different. How do you get Premium? By buying something--literally anything, apparently--from the DDO store. How do you do that? Good fucking question, because I for some reason can't. I have points, I just can't spend them on anything and I do not know why. I tried signing up for a forum account--for some reason, different than a game account, and your usernames for both cannot be the same--to ask, but for some reason even after signing up it won't let me fucking log in. Telling me I need "a valid game subscription".

This is insanity. Is this a game or a satire about bureaucracy? Come on, people. Get your fucking shit together.

Also Turbine seems to log me out near constantly. I can't idle on their site for more than a minute or so without getting kicked out again.

edit: Apparently in order to buy anything from the store you need to have an "active character". Mine is listed as "UNKNOWN" and I don't know how to change it.

This is fucking bullshit. Why the hell would you make it so methodically difficult to buy something from you? It's retarded

  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean

Tried to access my forum account on the DDO site, got this.

You're not the only person using it, you're just posting a lot. Others tend to only post when they have something pertinent to say.

Also, I had none of the troubles you're describing.

I have noticed that this kind of thing tends to happen to me a lot.

I mean the game itself is fine. The store is just ugh.

How did you buy the artificer class anyway? It won't even show up in the store for me.

That was just me noting that I've posted a lot here in the past day or two.
