I feel that this now warrants its own thread.
I believe Nova suggested that we should all get to Stormreach before we try doing anything as a group. Sounds like a decent suggestion to me, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to get there in time soloing as a Wizard, is my only concern.
edit: So I have managed to forget that categories exist yet again. >_>

I ended up getting my ass kicked because of some rather stupid decisions of mine.
Namely, I equipped a Flaming Falchion I got from doing the same quest on Hard Mode, which unequipped my shield (and thereby lost my 2 Damage Reduction I get on every hit from it), and then I used Lay On Hands while fighting a zombie, rather than selecting myself (Killing the zombie, but leaving me on 8 health fighting a strong undead and a Sauhgain Necromancer, or however that's spelled).
Everything went much more smoothly after I requipped my shield and drank some health potions after being KO'd.
And I died via that acid trap in the first dungeon.
Yeah the one no one ever dies by.
I am smurt
I also got some SCROLLZ and a Wand of Magic Missile, which will come in handy when I figure out how to charge the thing, if that's even possible. If not, I'll be sticking with the fire-finger wand I guess.
Also transcribing scrolls requires you to buy materials that are first available in Stormreach, so it's going to be awhile before I pick up Grease, I guess.
Also Nova is Nedi named after Ned Flanders or am I just seeing jokes where there are none?
Right, my main on Thelanis is a dual-wielding Ranger. I'll try to reach Stormreach (heh) soon, but I'm really tired right now, so I probably won't get to play much today.
Nedi was a name auto-generated on another game, which I just use because I can rarely think of better ones.
Okay, got to Stormreach and did another couple of quests. I am now a Level 3 Paladin, with 58 HP and a base Armour Class of 26.
Considering making my second character an Elf. Either a Ranger or a Sorceror/Wizard, not sure which.
Well if you do either of the latter be aware that it is entirely impossible to solo with a Sorceror.
Wizards you can sort of squeak by unless you're playing a Necromancer.
Bull. You just need to know what you're doing.
I ended up going Ranger anyway. I'm planning to dual-class into Rogue at Level 2, and swap between Ranger and Rogue for the rest of the game- as both Rogues and Rangers take advantage of many of the same stats.
Also planning to buy a new character slot, unlock Warforged, and unlock Artificer on Thursday. That's going to cost a good... more than 2600 points.
Have you done this before?
Yes. This is not the first time I have played this game; I just stopped playing for a year and a half, and created a new account because I wanted to play with others here.
Oh.
*shrug*
*I* found it impossible, anyway. Or at least too difficult to be enjoyable.
So, I'm wondering if anyone wants to play in a couple of days.
Not tomorrow, but the day after? Friday for America, Saturday for me. Or Saturday for America, Sunday for me.
I would, but I work Friday night.
Also is anyone else really put off by the fact that there are a couple quests you need to have another person for? In at least one case I didn't even realize this until I looked it up cuz I got stuck ("Rest for the Restless", it's in the one house enclave in Stormreach).
Hirelings.
Fair point, but I still would've liked to have had some warning.
You also can do it solo, so long as you don't mind an EXP penalty.
Argh, haven't been able to play T_T
Play with me over the weekend then! c:
Weekend? What is this thing of which you speak?
-checks schedule-
Oh, hey, I actually do have Saturday off. Yay.
I have Saturday and Sunday night off, if you all haven't advanced to level Sixtybillion by that point, anyway.
Also hit a roadblock with my Ranger. Can't get past that quest where you have to protect Heyton, dude keeps dying.
Errybody has a fuckin' ranger.
I am going to delete mine and make a Thief instead.
I don't actually use mine very much.
Also I've heard Rogues are the worst class in the game, but that's secondhand information.
I also just got my Wizard to level two. Hooraaay. Now she knows....two more spells. Well, better than nothing I guess.
Question: does what spells it gives you depend on your class path?
Also, I think "Ooze Puppet" might be the most situational spell in the entire game.
They help a lot in trap-heavy dungeons, and they can do a fair amount of damage with Sneak Attack. They're nowhere near as handy as most classes, but they're not useless. Plus, a high Dexterity gives them the skillset to wield rapiers/longswords and longbows lethally, which when combined with Sneak Attack, is simply beautiful.
You have to learn spells from scrolls, I believe.
But I just learned two via a level up (Ray of Enfeeblement and Burning Hand, if you're curious). But it didn't give me any options, it was just like "lol here you go".
Also quite a few spells are bugged, apparently. This is disheartening.
Bonus, I guess.
Maybe.
You can allegedly learn spells by transcribing scrolls. Problem with that being that I do not have the materials for such an endeavor (the closest shop to the starting point of the game that sells what I can only imagine is fuckin' paper, is in Stormreach).
Also is it bad that I want a familiar even though they literally do nothing?
