the last episode I saw was about chickens, man.
L-i-t-e-r-a-l chickens.
Also did anyone watch last week's broadcast? Did I miss anything important on DW or Cashew Sins?
That's just what I think of when I hear it >.>
I've generally held the opinion regarding genre definitions that they're all fairly useless, or rather not as useful as they're treated as being, so my opinions on the matter are...weird.
And we're not even talking about game genres, which I could bitch about for hours.
Nah but seriously guys if you haven't been watching it you should totally start. Even if you lack cable or live outside the US, streams aren't hard to find.
Also, they made a new promo vid like they used to do in the olden days called "To Hell With Fear" (if you don't know what I mean by promo video, it's those music video-like things they used to show that were basically electronic music with clips from the shows on top of them) and another called "Building You A Better Cartoon Show 2012", they're both pretty awesome, and you should look them up.
I'd say that's even a more useless genre definition by virtue of being narrow. Not to mention that genre and quality are not even related either way
I mean, I haven't watched Brotherhood so I can't tell you if it's or if it isn't a fighting anime series or whatever, but I don't understand why can't it be a fighting series on top of whatever else it is? Genres aren't mutually exclusive either.
Because it doesn't really have increasing power levels or focus entirely on a procession of 1 on 1 fights, which is not a narrow qualifier at all in anime.
Genres do have more than two qualities, though.
"Bleach got so bad the anime got cancelled."
It did? Well, I can't say much was lost. It's much better if you pretend it ended at volume 20, though even then it's still shonenshit to a T by the time the Soul Society comes into it.
tl;dr: bleach haters assemble
And while I'm still not too far into FMA: Brotherhood and I'm still rather indifferent about it, I agree that "shonenshit" really doesn't apply. I just think of it as a story that wants to be told, that happens to have superpowered people as a focus. At the very least, it's unconventional for fighting shonen, I think we can agree on that.
And nothing of value was lost.
Anyway, I'm hoping they pick up some cool new shows soonish. I know they eventually want to phase out most of the oldshit on the run (that is: GiTS, Bebop, and at some point, Bleach).
I'm sure they're banking on Bebop attracting more viewers like it did on its first run.
If Darker than Black wasn't already kind of old, I'd be surprised if they hadn't considered that. Well, I dunno, have they actually aired anything old recently? They've had Ghost in the Shell and Cowboy Bebop for a while.
A lot of people want them to bring back either one of the Gundam shows or DBZ, but DeMarco has provided a number of reasons that that's just not going to happen any time soon.
Personally I'd prefer they focus on NEW AND COOL STUFF.
Someone suggested Tiger & Bunny awhile back and I liked that idea. Unfortunately it looks like the only one they're going to be picking up any time soon is going to be *sigh* Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt.
Well that's depressing =/
I have yet to see Tiger and Bunny, but I've heard nothing but good things about it. I also need to watch PSG at some point, but I don't think it could actually be that bad.
Personally, I'll be happy as long as they never pick up Hetalia or Black Butler; I know the former is terrible, and I can only imagine that the latter is, as well.
There was--for some reason--a huge fan campaign for it.
I guess you at least can't say DeMarco's not listening to the fans, he is.
I dunno, I've never seen P&SwG and am willing to give it a shot but the premise just sounds so damn stupid.
DeMarco's said he does not plan on picking up any moe/slice of life shows.
Which is good, because the people who were clamoring to get Shugo Chara on there need to just stop existing.
I'd rather have PSG than Hetalia or Black Butler, I'll give it that. And it would be oddly fitting to air it on Cartoon Network After Dark.
What's Cartoon Network After Dark?
unless you mean [adult swim]
How so? I honestly don't remember anything beyond "a promiscuous angel and her goth sister are kicked out of heaven and get up to some shenanigans", and I don't really have a problem with that premise.
so i guess k-on will never be there
More seriously, if we're on that topic, it's kind of too bad that they also wouldn't air Azumanga Daioh, I could see that working out in Adult Swim's line up. But maybe I don't know anything.
What's that?
^^ Yeah that, which Toonami is a part of now. Considering PSG is apparently an extreme 90's Western cartoon spoof, it would be fitting to have it there.
^ They have striptease powerup sequences and use their panties/stockings as weapons.
Shugo Chara is sorta like Cardcaptor Sakura.
Oh, yeah, the stripteasing thing. Well, I can't say that wouldn't be right up Adult Swim's alley. And I find the idea pretty funny, myself.
It's supposed to be tongue-in-cheek, though.
Everest: Azudaioh? Really?
No man. I mean, I like Azu, in fact it's among my favorite shows of all time, but this is an action block (despite the current lineup being all anime, it is not, in fact, an anime showcase block. DeMarco himself has chimed in on this), the premise of "cute girls doing amusing things" really doesn't fit in well next to say, Deadman Wonderland. Which can be best described as "I KILL YOU WITH MY BLOOOOOOOOOOOD"
Shugo Chara is shit. Shit of the highest caliber. Nothing but it.
It has a few semi-strong points (the character designs are okay, if generic, and it has an alright themesong), but the rest of it is just...so....so bad. It's also targeted to very young children. Why people my age watch it...I would rather not ponder.
I seriously doubt most people would pick up on that.
I'd like to pretend it's just people who grew up with Cardcaptor Sakura, but I know it's probably not true =/
But yeah, considering it's an action block, I hope Tiger and Bunny gets aired sometime.
I also got shown a show...I forget the name of it though. Had a Z in the title.
Was basically Batman+A Demon+Japan! from what I saw.
Oh, it's an action block specifically. I definitely wouldn't put Azudaioh in there. If anything, it's more of a Sunday show anyway.
Either way, people would probably get laughs out of it, for what that's worth.
^I guess. Like I said I've never seen it, the premise just makes me skeptical.
My favorite show on the block right now is Casshern Sins.
It was Deadman Wonderland, but I had that spoiled for me by some dumbass /a/litists. So I can't really enjoy it as much as I want to.
I guess my favorite on the block is FMA because I'm watching that one and actually sort of know what's up. But I don't watch Adult Swim anyway. But power to them for having Durarara!!, even if that's finished for now.
They're having DRRR? Neat, I could watch that again.
Had. It got cut from the block when they brought back Toonami due to some licensing problem.
also "how big are dem titties" is apparently a meme on /co/ (the only 4chan board that seems to actually like Toonami) now.
According to the Wikipedia page, it's finished. Did they not actually get through the whole series?
