But yeah, I guess I can see how you might not like his narration style. Even though it's perfectly serviceable, it might just not appeal to you.
It's weird; in terms of writing, I actually quite like the dialogue (though if I remember correctly, he's one of many writers who's prone to writing said-bookisms adverbially).
Well, liking narration is a purely subjective thing. I can't stand Terry Pratchett's writing, for example, although he's a brilliant writer.
Yeah. It's just weird that I can really like one aspect of his way-of-putting-words-on-paper and really dislike another aspect of it.
Hmm. Not to say you're wrong, since this is subjective and all, but out of curiosity, as a fan of his who admittedly hasn't read any of him in a while: what do you dislike about Pratchett? I suppose I could look through The Way of Kings again and try to better articulate my feelings about Sanderson, in fairness.
It's just... weird.
I can't really place it. It's a combination of the writing style and the word choice, which makes it painful to read.
It's definitely not bad by any stretch of the imagination. I just don't like it personally.
Hmm. I suppose it is kinda weird. Though I like that passage a lot. Which book is it from?
EDIT: In hindsight, I wonder if my main reason for discontinuing WoK is actually a loss of momentum; a lot of it is better than I would have remembered. It's mostly phrases like:
that grate. Actually, I think it's his narrative one-liners in general that fall flat for me.
Reaper Man, IIRC.
As I said, it's not bad. It just... turns me off the narration.
Well in general, Discworld narration is perpetually tongue in cheek and prone to digressions and overwrought metaphors. I can see some of those things turning people off.

I'm pretty close to finished it myself actually. Probably will next time I sit down to read.
Not getting it until Christmas T_T
Would've been fine with getting it for Christmas, but apparently mom didn't think I wanted it added to my book list, so I guess I'll get it myself today, to catch up with you folks, and because I just finished another good book.
I considered asking for it for Christmas but I decided I didn't want to wait.
I finished Cold Days in a little less than a week.
There are a couple of books I'm waiting on because I'm pretty sure I'll be getting some gift cards.
Actually, I finished Cold Days in one day.
Two days for me.
Four hours.
For the record, I can't finish a book in one sitting. Physically unable. Child with ADD and all that.
