  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

I remember hearing about the demo, which is what I was asking after

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

Other than "third-person action RPG," I'm not really seeing much similarity to Fable.

^You can get it from Steam or Origin.

  • No rainbow star
    Be Greg :D

    > it's $60 on Steam

    what

Hmmm...not sure how that would translate to fantasy...

His interest in engineering might become crafting, and the psychic thing could make him a mage, but...hmmm...

    ^There's also a demo.

  • One foot in front of the other, every day.

    So, INUH.

Tell me about the combat system for this game.

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

I don't get why digital copies cost just as much as physical ones. You want to undercut Gamestop? Don't give them any reasons to shop there!

  • You can change. You can.

Isn't it normally cheaper to buy games from Steam than from a store?

MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

Sometimes yes, other times no. A lot of times new AAA games will cost just as much on Steam as at Gamestop.

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

    There's also a demo.

But that's not the full game. I don't want to have to pay $60 for a game. That's nearly as expensive as most games here.

Skyrim's base price on Steam is $90.

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

Australian games better be laced with a pound of weed.

    They're not.

It's very comic book-y, as far as I can tell (though I've mostly been a mage, so I don't really know). There are a bunch of different types of weapons, and they all have different uses. There are a few different varieties of weapons for straight-up fighting, but all I've used of those is the rusty sword you get at the start. There are also Faeblades, these really quick..things...that I'm not really sure how to describe. There are daggers, which do something ridiculous like 200* damage if you use them on an enemy that doesn't see you, then there are bows, and mage staffs and stuff. It's pretty fast-paced. There's also a dodgeroll move, which is really useful.

But that's not the full game. I don't want to have to pay $60 for a game. That's nearly as expensive as most games here.

That's what most games cost here on release.

    It's less than in Australia.

But I thought Steam was meant to be cheap

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

Well, the prices are set by the developer, and they set it to the same thing on release because...I don't actually know. They'd make more money from a $20 Steam copy than from a $60 Gamestop copy. It usually drops off much faster than in a store, though.

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

But that means I do still have to wait :/

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

    Yeah :/

You could still try the demo, though.

  • But I thought Steam was meant to be cheap

Steam sales are the real beauty, and I think Steam eventually drops the price down to below what it is in store once they can get away with it.

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

But they can get away from it from day one! Developers set the initial price!

  • One foot in front of the other, every day.

    Not sure if caricature.

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

The weird thing is, from a purchase of a $60 game in Gamestop, a dev gets $12. From the purchase of a $20 game on Steam, the dev gets...I've heard two different figures, but it's between $14 and $18.

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

Presumably they make more of a net profit from the AAA games.

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

How much do they get from a $60 game on Steam?

  • One foot in front of the other, every day.

Game devs get off well compared to, say, musicians under a major label, but they don't have a lot to do with anything that isn't the game itself.

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

^^They'd make...I think either $42 or $54, depending again on which of the figures I tend to hear is correct.

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

That would explain why they're $60 then

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

Not really. You'd think they'd at least make them, say, $50, thus giving the consumer a reason to buy the more profitable version.

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

Big advantage of Steam >>> you can have it on any computer and it's easy to manage

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

True, but some people apparently do prefer physical copies. You could win these people over by charging slightly less for the digital.

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

But is the amount of people that would win-

fuck it i dont even like this argument

If they charge $20, do you reckon they'd get more than 3 times the amount of people buying it than would buy it at $60?
