    The Ouzel was last seen in the autumn of 1695 leaving dock in Dublin under the command of Capt Eoghan Massey of Waterford. She reappeared—supposedly the triumphant victim of high seas piracy—in 1700. According to her captain, he and his crew had been commanded and forced to loot several locations including North Africa over the span of several years before overpowering their captors, retaking their vessel, and returning home unharmed.
    It took me a couple reads and a visit to its dedicated article to understand who/what "she/her" was referring to.

    I've noticed an increasing number of those swirly pole things outside barber shops around here, the ones I've seen are the red-and-blue-on-white ones. These things didn't exist outside fiction, like TV shows and foreign countries, so it's amusing to me that they're showing up.

    Around here, they spread along with that hipster beard fad and now they're commonplace. I only ever saw like a single explicitly men's barbershop before it began, every other hairdresser's was the girly, run by all-female crew, kind, servicing all genders but oriented towards female clients. Don't remember ever seeing the swirly pole back in the day.

    Talking about barbers, that's how a men's hair care specialist is called these days, "barber". As in, English borrowing. Apparently it sounds better than our own words for it. Of the two I can think of, I guess one is too much like the female kind, and the other too silly.

    Honestly, I'm not quite sure. I vaguely remember something to that effect, but what and where... Could've been a standard post, could've been in activity, though this one's doubtful, or could've been in a discussion by PM. It's not in threads I founded, at least. I think you have my e-mail, though, through some admin business or something.

    Yeah, I can see your e-mail address on your profile due to being an admin I think.

    But part of why I'm mentioning this is because the backend of this forum has been half-broken for years. To the point where it's apparently impossible to change people's statuses (e.g. make or remove mods or ban people). This probably needs some extensive updating work.

    Stormtroper I at least have some contact with over Discord. Which is why I asked you specifically lrdgck.

    Well, yeah, if you need a concact to me that could be used urgently, then I don't check that e-mail account too often, but if you want to make sure we won't lose contact then it's there. Unless you want some backup contact beyond this one. (Like, I didn't want to drop an e-mail address over a forum post because the spam people never sleep, but if need be something can be arranged.)

    Also, yeah, I guess I'd have to set up a new discord account, for reasons I've posted about some time ago. (Lost the logins and stuff.)

    If you're gonna start from scratch, you can also consider hopping onto Matrix, which is basically decentralized Discord.

    Or Mastodon, which is decentralized Twitter.

    Or come hang out on IRC. Ye olde IJBM IRC channel (#ijbm on irc.esper.net) is technically still around though it gets very little use.

    (Amusingly, a Steam friend of mine turned out to be using Matrix and I jumped on the chance to chat with him on that since it's basically like the first reason I've ever had to not just mess with Matrix a little but actually use it to chat.)
