  • Great, we're doing personality tests now.

Call me back when I can take one that says I'm a pony.
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
    Are you a pony?

    Yes [   ]

    No [   ]
  • Mmmm... no.

    So am I a pony?

    > Why can't we have an even-ish mix of opinions?

Because we don't need people who are wrong on our forum.

  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!

    Economic Left/Right: -2.25

    Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.00

Huh. I thought I'd be more Authoritarian than that.

  • ~♥YES♥~! I *AM* a ~♥cupcake♥~! ^_^
I have updated it, thus including the vast majority of OTC regulars.

That's certainly a *crowd* graph... or should I say, "crowded" graph?

    Only one conservative.

Well, according to this test this one is almost directly in the center. Which is rather strange, as this one is considered a loony bleeding heart liberal (not to offend anyone! It is not intended as a generalisation, but only as a type this one is seen as) where she is. And most of this one''s posts on the forum can be classified as socially liberal.

Anyway, it is true that there are clear dominant ideas in OTC, which is not exactly a good thing. Not bad enough to stop this one from liking the forum, but nevertheless, it prevents OTC from being as good as it could be. But cause and effect for it are tied so closely that it becomes a chicken and egg problem.

As far as this one understand, it is like that
    *Most Tropers Are Young Nerds
*Most young nerds are left wing
*Those who aren't tend to find themselves in the middle of flame war if they persist. Even if no flame war happens and everyone involved is utterly polite and having a pleasant discussion, standing alone with one's unpopular opinion gets quite tiring and stressful quite quickly.
*Which might be entertaining for awhile, but eventually gets tiring either to troper or to the mods.
    *OTC becomes even more homogenous
    *Repeat

Also, there are things like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiral_of_silence

Again, this one is not blaming anyone. It's not like any particular troper is responsible for it. It was simply bound to happen considering that there was a bent in certain direction on this site from the beginning. It simply cannot not to increase as the time goes.

That sounds about right; I came to the same conclusion quite some time ago. Nice article to add, though.

Also, high five! Glad to see another person leaning towards the center.

    CENTRISM, FUCK YEAR

...Does it count if I checked "strongly disagree" to every question without reading them first?

    rotfl

    Economic Left/Right: 5.38
    Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.62

Huh. I was expecting closer to 2.62, -5.38. Questions were confusing though, because I'm not sure how much to read into them.

  • Quit being a whiny bitch and man up.
    @OP: You just realized this?
  • Well, it took this one quite a lot of time to realise it. And for all it's perceived faults, old IJBM was more diverse.

Note that OTC is still a good place to be most of the time, though of course this one is not unbiased. To be honest, this one cannot herself spending any significant amount of time on a forum that is as conservative bent as OTC is liberal-bent. Which...is not fair.
  • Not really. Circle-jerks like their own kind to be involved.
  • As a petty and vindictive person, I have to take extra steps not to appear petty and vindictive.
Lol Nolan chart. As if that piece of propaganda is accurate, comprehensive, or representative.
  • How is that propaganda?
  • Took it again and got

    Economic Left/Right: -0.12
    Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.08

Propoganda or no, precise it's not. Thought that could just mean I am open - minded enough to have fluid politics, or something.

  • Took it again, like Frodo:

    Economic Left/Right: 1.50
    Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.62
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
    Should I take this? [y/n]
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
    Are you a dog? [y/n]
  • a little muffled
@BonSequitur: It's not the Nolan chart, although it is somehwat similar.

I normally score more moderately on these kinds of tests, the questions preclude all but the farthest right from really agreeing to most of the questions.

EDIT: WHICH ACCOUNT ISN'T MY SOCKPUPPET?!?!?!
  • The ones near the top.
  • Likes cheesecake unironically.
Funny, I always thought that OTC is a liberal and conservative circle-jerk. The may not be balanced, but every side seems to be full of dicks well-represented. In fact, one of the purposes of OTC is for lefties and righties to bash each other's skull in. Or at least fantasizing about it while doing something that resembles a discussion.

Of course, that goes for pretty much every discussion board.
  • Of course, the Socialists don't have any fun... *Cries*
