    You've got the right idea. It stands for proportional-integral-derivative, it refers to control systems with these three acting elements (which ends up working into a differential equation, think something like an RLC circuit).
    Edit: Actually, maybe an LRC circuit is not a good way to explain it (it works on the difference between a measurement and the set point) but ehh, you get the idea.

    Because some of you seemed to be interested in this story. The background music is made of mid-2000s sappy love songs from a then-popular soft rock band*, if you can't make sense of something it might be just that images are made to follow the lyrics.

    (* edit: turns out the songs are actually by two different bands. One of them is basically known only for that song, which is commonly mistakenly attributed to the other band due to how similar they sound.)
