I'm worried about my geek powerlevel
Comments
My issue in the first place is that people conflate creative output into a collective. Sort of like if I said that the New Hollywood movement is completely awesome because of Taxi Driver alone or something. (Not like New Hollywood wasn't the best age of film, but you get my meaning.)
@Alk: tru dat. But internet lore and catchphrases built up over time, instead of piling on new terms and mishmash words that constantly return in the front section. You don't need them to enjoy the webcomic or whatever one calls it, but they're an annoying distraction to me.
Also, more delicious brony spaghetti: http://prejudiceismagic.tumblr.com/ (here we have lovely sentiments that whites can't experience racism, argued how characters should be humanized based on racial stereotypes, peeps interpeting Equestria as a national-socialist ideal, a statutory rape case somehow being made about the MLP fandom-both the apologists and the condemners, and of course the merit of morbidly obese troll/fetish pony art as a statement in support of the fat acceptance movement)
Dude, you almost activated my PTSD.
Hetalia: No
Homestuck: Indifferent
League of Legends: Indifferent
Minecraft: No
MLP: No
TF2: No
Touhou: No
(The works/games themselves, not the fandoms)
IT'S NOT MOE
^Where's malk and his laughinggirls.gif when you need him?
I think Zun is kind of moe, what with his alcoholism and lack of artistic ability.
here. as close as it gets
I am amazed how I came up with a completely unscientific survey but instead have effectively caused people to come up with their own inconsistent standards for supporting or opposing something, and have simulated the stupidity of real-life political opinions.
Forzare,
You can't judge an entire fandom by the minority of really loud obnoxious people that try to ruin it for everyone.
I think you made a good point here. Judging a fandom based on the worst behavior that comes from it leaves out how most people who are a part of it act. That being said, I feel like some of the worst stuff that comes from a fandom can affect how other people view someone who takes part in the fandom even if he/she thinks it is just as messed up. That does not really seem fair to me, but I suppose that is just one of the unfortunate consequences of openly liking something.
As for the poll thing, either I lack enough information about those fandoms to say much of anything or I do not really understand what fandoms really are. If you just want a silly gut reaction though, then I guess no to all of them except Minecraft and TF2.
You have a funny tiny mind, lil' buddy.
My standards can be summed up pretty quickly, but they require me to yell "WHY DO YOU LIKE SHIT?!!?!!??!?!" at people in my best nerdrage voice.
Stop that. Right now. I'm getting annoyed.
You say that, but where were The EU and United States when the economy collapsed, while my nation of Superlazuliland's economy has thrived. Whale Souls are surprisingly efficent a power source, rivaling even atomic energy.
Of course you've got naysayers saying I shouldn't have sold the souls of all of my country's inhabitants (myself excluded, of course) for the ability to harvest the souls of lesser mammals, but they're not driving in soular powered cars, are they?
^^ You could just not read the thread.
And miss the chance to bring his penis into the fray?
Would an on-topic macro work?
Dumb fandom stuff will never be as bad as dumb politics stuff, if nothing else then by dint of the fact that fandom doesn't affect people's lives on such a scale.
The only one I'm going to say "Yes" to is TF2. The rest are pretty much "meh."
Regarding the last page:
So, yeah, what does that mean?
Also, how many geek points do I earn back based solely on my Masaaki Yuasa fixation?
I think you're looking for "I'm worried about my gimp powerlevel"
Ten-thousand years late to the party, but whatever:
Hetalia: Never seen it but nothing against it, might watch sometime. Abstain.
Homestuck: Love the comic, the fandom has some pretty cool stuff. For.
League of Legends: Meh. Friends are super into it, but not me. Abstain.
Minecraft: Diggy diggy diggy, For.
My Little Pony: Friendship is indeed magic~
Team Fortress 2: Not super into it, but I play on occasion and I do enjoy it. For.
Touhou: The fandom makes really nice music, and I enjoy the games. For.
The only one of those I've been into is TF2, and even that faded after the community died down, unfortunately =/
None of those things interest me, does that mean I am like an anti-geek?
