Apprehensive about season two of MLP:FiM
Comments
Yeah but in that case, it could be excused as Early Installment Weirdness. Here, its just stupid.
Also, Nightmare Moon was actually kind of cool. Discord is just... stupid.
He has the feel of a Darkwing Duck villain, which is always a plus in my book.
@Juan
I'm not really a fan of the show itself, but more of the fan culture, anyways.
Also, look how your precious Doctor has been corrupted by the ponies:

But as it is now, it seems like reading too much into the little information we have and getting worked up over nothing. Don't be so cynical.
Discord is Q. Your argument is invalid.
Also, John de Lancie.
Back in my day, being a complete ripoff of a different character would be considered a mark against.
Especially a character from a different show that has a completely different mood, setting, style and tone. I don't see where you nerds get the idea that just because something happened in one work of fiction that it can be freely tossed into any other work of fiction of any stripe or shape whatsoever. Your argument here is basically "it worked for Star Trek, why not MLP too" which is just... seriously, dude? That's like saying "X-Men dealt with the holocaust so there's no reason an episode of Hello Kitty can't bring it up!"
I like him, He realizes something that some villains don't.
When you're guaranteed victory, you can relax and have some fun, which is exactly what he did.
... You're going to have to clarify the question. Why not what?
also, it's "truly"
It's mostly used as a comparing tool for Emotion A.
As in, Character Y provoked emotion A.
Character X provoked emotion A.
It doesn't have anything to do with the differences in the series, just the sort of emotions these characters provoke.
"you nerds"? Dohohoho.
I see no other resemblance in the character than a faint homage, and the creature works in the setting.
QDiscord was awesome.WMG: Discord is Q. And he likes messin with Celestia just as much as Picard.
Back in my day, being a complete ripoff of a different character would be considered a mark against.
Old. We're getting old.
Oh, and Q was always a terrible character. Seriously, boys- sort yourselves out.
Oh, here goes my attempts to study
First of all, I was referring to the fact that Discord was voiced by John de Lancie, because he's awesome. Second of all, Q isn't the only trickster villain like that ever. It's not a total ripoff, come on.

Q is an archetype. That kind of villain is fairly common. And it's not like they picked the Borg or something actually dark to put in the show.
Besides, that's not what I'm saying at all. Stop willfully misinterpretting things to make "nerds" look as badly as possible. Especially when we're talking about goddamn ponies, Jesus Christ.
Besides, Discord was a lot more fun to watch than Nightmare Moon. He actually did stuff and had an actual personality.
>>you nerds
come on, seriously
