Alternatively, they could befriend the shark Nanoha-style with the ~magic of friendship~.
  • $80+ per session
The third season of Avatar was my favorite...

How can you be so worked up about ponies.

    Really.

Yeah, nobody on this forum ever gets worked up about stupid things *cough*Batman*cough*movie remakes*cough*Chrono Cross*cough*Anime*cough*Touhou*cough*what other nerds think*cough*

This is the first thing in a while that I've honestly enjoyed and now it looks like its gonna go south. What's not to worry about?

    ...

Anyway, now the episode has come and gone. And. ummm....

Yeah, it was kinda stupid, but not "totally ruins the show" stupid.

Link to what? The episode just finished airing about ten minutes ago. It's not gonna be on Youtube yet.
  • Timezones! then

So I can't even offer my thoughts

    So there!
  • Though I will say, without having seen it, It's the best episode ever.
  • You can change. You can.
    ...

I love it when you do that.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

That's one of the few points in his post that I'm in full agreement with.
  • You can change. You can.
Indeed. MGS 2 is a great game.
  • no longer cuddly, but still Edmond
Metal Gear Solid 2 can do no wrong. La Li Lu Le Lo!

Heck, I've played all the MGS games except for Solid 4 and the only one I thought had no redeeming qualities at all was Peace Walker (even MGS3, as many bad choices as it made, was still a pretty playable and exciting game).

Incidentally, and getting back on topic, Equestria Daily is offering three different Youtube and a Megaupload link, if Counterclock still wants to check it out.
  • "And yet the very first thing they have when they begin a new season is... "introducing a new supervillain that the heroes have to band together to defeat!""

You do realize that Lauren wanted the first season to have a plot like this, right? Nightmare Moon didn't exist for nothing.
  • So... if Lauren Faust wants something, then it's automatically a good idea?
  • no longer cuddly, but still Edmond
    What Dyre said.
  • Given how good the first season was, Lauren knows damn well what she's doing.

The creator usually knows best, at least in my eyes.
  • Well, creators all have faults.

Usually, they are best with an editor.

    George Lucas.

    Joss Whedon.

  • $80+ per session
Plus as the season went on, Faust's involvement went down.

^^^ But you said yourself that the first season wasn't done as Faust wanted it to be done.  There's no reason to believe her original plan was actually a good idea.

I also have a hard time accepting that the creator usually knows best, when there are so many examples of franchises being ruined by none other than the original creator (compare the Star Wars prequels with the original trilogy, for instance).

  • I usually tend to have an idea that the creator is well, God.

This stems from me usually believing that everyone should bow down, for lack of a better term, to the creator. I have a very specific vision of what I want my works to be, and deviation from this is something I despise, so working with me is kind of difficult because everything must match up perfectly with what I want.

I tend to assume other creators have this mindset as well.

In addition to all that's been said, television is inherently a collaborative medium unless one person somehow does all the directing, voices, animation etc. Lauren Faust only provided oversight, really: she didn't write the majority of the scripts, and was far from the only person guiding the direction of the show.

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
@Chagen:George Lucas had complete control when he made the Star Wars prequels, but not when he made the original trilogy. I know you haven't seen any of them, but I'm sure you've heard the reactions.
  • $80+ per session
No human deserves to be "bowed down" to, or worshiped. Everyone is capable of having bad ideas. If you think that a creator of a work is exempt from that then I pity you.
  • Just saw the premiere episode, lolled at the Chocolate Rain reference.

T'is actually the first episode I watched in totality, up till now I only indulged in abridged series, memes, trollfics and the parody tag on Ponibooru.

  • The new season is up?
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Still haven't seen it. Stupid homework.
  • Not bad. Predictable as always, but still written well. Like the bad guy.
  • You can change. You can.
i can't actually believe that INUH, Insanity Addict and AHR watch the ponies.

I seem to be losing bros in this bitter cold war. :(
