It does, in that they should realize that they'll eventually be reported and they could (and should, by all means) get into serious trouble for this.
Fair enough :P
Not only do they do jack shit about it, they also delete threads that demand that the CP threads to be removed. Think about that for a second.
^Waitwaitwait, so not only do they refuse to censor CP, they censor anti-CP posts? O.O
No it doesn't, thats worse
^Yeah, that's what I meant. It's less incompetence and more being horrible people.
It's still incompetence, for the reason I gave above. It also happens to be sickening; incompetence and inhumanity aren't exclusive.
Apparently, the main culprit of this, Violentacrez, is friends with the people who fucking run the site.
I wish I was making this up.
^^^ Go for it. Really, a drop in traffic for that site would not only be cool, but it would put the message across pretty well, too.
I'm still not sure if I want to tweet Robert Dobbs over it; on the one hand, he has 76,113 followers, so he could get the word out pretty well. On the other hand, I haven't actually talked to him before, which would make it really awkward for me, and I'm not sure if he would care to get involved, or how many of his fans would go as far as to make a report to the FBI based on information they've just received and have no context for.
Personally, I think spreading the message, at this point, is better solely to get bad press about reddit. The FBI will have already processed the tips and is likely already making plans and gathering evidence; remember that the Megaupload investigation took two years.
Late to the hate party, but yeah from reading the SA thread I'm amazed more stuff isn't done by authorities cracking down on the CP.
Also the rest of it can die in a fire too.
^ Sure! Right now I am in the process of emailing Amazon and Gawker. But please remember that I made little to no content in that post; it's all from the SA thread I linked earlier. Don't spam people with the same message, either; it'll make it look less authentic. Hold on a sec for me to copy/paste what I'm sending to Gawker right now; use that information to disseminate what's happening to other media outlets, followers, whatever.
e: here you go! His name is spelt correctly now
Dear Adrian Chen,
As a big fan of Gawker Media (especially the main site and your own journalistic pieces), I understand just how much the Internet has changed the way we all live, mainly for the better. Heck, if it were not for the Internet, you wouldn't even have a job, and that would, for lack of a better term, suck.
However, as I'm sure you know, there is a dark side to the Internet, where people use their implicit anonymity to facilitate illegal activities, some worse than others. One of the most common seems to be child pornography.
The reason this comes up is because recently, I have been informed that the extremely popular website Reddit (reddit.com) not only actively engages in the host and distribution of blatant child pornography, but that many of its administrators and even owners knowingly allow this to happen, without any attempt whatsoever to stop it. For example, these two pictures (which are work safe and only contain words) show that questions asked on the board r/ideasfortheadmins, where users directly ask the administrators questions, regarding child pornography are not only ignored but deleted:

In addition, one of the most prominent admins, ViolentAcrez, is already known for creating and running r/jailbait, which was recently shut down. He also created r/kiddie_porn (which was deleted) and r/picsofdeadjailbait (which, to my knowledge, is still running). What is less known is that many of the top tiered individuals in Reddit regularly engage in public speech with him. Violentacrez's Twitter account (http://twitter.com/#!/violentacrez) seems like a good example of this. Krispykrackers (head of advertising and the community helpline at reddit [http://twitter.com/#!/krispykrackers]), hueypriest (reddit's general manager [http://twitter.com/#!/hueypriest]), and chromakode (developer [http://twitter.com/#!/chromakode]) all follow violentacrez. So does jedberg (former administrator), KeyserSosa (former lead developer [http://twitter.com/#!/keysersosa]), and raldi (another former developer type). If you view their past tweets, you'll see that violentacrez has regularly been in direct, public contact with them. Finally, while this may be somewhat unsubstantiated (I will email you the proof if I can find it), violentacrez has stated, himself, that he has molested his 19-year-old daughter. User
Here is a list of the subreddits that are allowed to stay on the site. Look them up at your own discretion, as they are not only work safe but also highly upsetting.

All of these are gleamed from http://www.reddit.com/r/truejailbait. Some subreddits that it does not list are r/niggerjailbait (reddit.com/niggerjailbait),r/gaolbait (reddit.com/r/gaolbait), r/GirlsinSchoolUniforms (reddit.com/r/GirlsinSchoolUniforms), r/realgirls (reddit.com/r/realgirls), r/trapbait(reddit.com/r/trapbait), r/legalteens (reddit.com/r/legalteens), r/thenewjailbait (reddit.com/r/thenewjailbait), r/picsofdeadkids(reddit.com/r/picsofdeadkids), and r/picsofdeadjailbait (reddit.com/r/picsofdeadjailbait). There are also numerous subreddits that promote the abuse of women, such as r/beatingtrannies (reddit.com/r/beatingtrannies) and r/beatingwomen (reddit.com/r/beatingwomen).
While other parts of the site promote bigotry such as racism, homophobia/transphobia, and sexism, the child pornography and abuse subreddits are explicitly forbidden under the Acceptable Use Policy of Amazon, whose servers host Reddit: "You may not use, or encourage, promote, facilitate or instruct others to use, the Services or AWS Site for any illegal, harmful or offensive use, or to transmit, store, display, distribute or otherwise make available content that is illegal, harmful, or offensive." The use of Imgur to host pictures of these disturbing topics is, therefore, against their terms of use. I have emailed Amazon notifying them of these things.
This is where you step in. As a journalist at one of the most-read news websites on the entire Internet, you can let people know that one of the most-trafficked websites in the entire world is host to large amounts of illegal and terribly immoral activity. I feel that it is your duty to not only let people know that this is happening, but let others in the news media know as well. Anderson Cooper did a segment on r/jailbait that helped get it shut down, but it seems that that was not nearly enough. I ask you to send this information to as many friends and colleagues as you can, so that not only the highly disturbing activity be stopped but that users can go on the Internet without having to face such terrible things. Please make note and respond to this if you wish to do so.
Lastly, there are many others that may be sending you similar information right now. That's because me and many other recently found out about it, so don't disregard it as spam.
Sincerely, and with best hopes,
Jason Tréjo (not my real name)
PS: I will email you any additional information if you want, or if something important comes up.
Why chavs of all people?
@Icalasari: If you want to post CountryPumpkin's message, specifically, I don't mind. Given the circumstances, I don't mind dealing with a hypothetical influx of users as long as the word gets out.
Conde Nast, the big US publisher, are the owners of Reddit. They don't seem keen on publishing an e-mail address, but you can tweet them at @CondeNastCorp. I have. I never thought I'd bother joining Twitter.
>people dismiss entirety of Reddit rather than subsection of userbase distributing said contraband
>people saying this frequent 4chan, even though said site also has subsections almost entirely devoted to drawn/animooted child pr0n and threads on jailbait which stay up for days
>m00t's response is complaining about overworked mods
Don't care much for the either site, but they all fall under Sturgeon's Law. If the whole thing gets pulled out of cyberspace due to slothful owners, I won't lose any sleep over it, but don't say the entire site's shite.
That said, do carry on with the awareness raising, perhaps crosspost it to 4chan, since those peeps have a virulent hatred for Reddit and will gladly latch onto a manner to take it down.
@InsanityAddict When the admins delete threads objecting to child porn, it goes beyond "subsection of userbase".
4chan has enforced rules against child porn.
It's a shame that this is such a problem for reddit, as the subreddit for my school is free of this and pretty cool.
4chan may well not be very effective at dealing with child porn, but that's still an advance on not bothering at all to the point of condoning it.

*reads again* Pfffhahahaha. That's priceless. That user violentacrez is apparently also an anti-semite, creating a subreddit called jewmerica. Can't wait to see where this whole thing goes.
^^
Surely the 'nothing illegal' rule they mention should cover the CP stuff already?
