MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

...so why can't she figure out a way to keep from getting kidnapped?

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

Well, in the games where she's actually a character, rather than a plot device, she tends to be a bit better about that.

  • In Lttp, she psychically called out to Link and the other knights to come rescue her.

Yeah, in the story-heavy ones Zelda getting captured is along the lines of Ganondorf bypassing heavily magically-protected areas to surprise her -- usually near the end of the game -- or beating the shit out of her army badly enough that surrendering is her best option by far.

And of course in Spirit Tracks she spends most of the game exacting revenge for said capture.

  • >implying that twiddling your thumbs in a dungeon is not the sanest option if you are the figurehead of a nation with zilch combat experience

  • That's the other thing.  In the more recent games where she's not indisposed for a very good reason (and even then she was supposedly a more than passable combatant), Zelda is either an untouchable ghost, a grizzled pirate, or a fucking ninja.

Although Zelda does seem to have access to some powerful magic...
  • No magic beats the insane power of Link's continue screen.

...you actually see the continue screen?  This isn't exactly NES era anymore, it's not that hard to not die.

Hell, I wasn't sure they bothered programming one anymore.

  • Only since Skyward Sword's Technoblins.

  • Do any of the triforce pieces that aren't Power actually do anything?

  • Presumably Wisdom makes Zelda smart and Courage makes Link crazy enough to do all the stuff he does.  Not all magic is light shows and fireworks.

  • My friend and I have decided that the Triforce of Wisdom merely gives Zelda the insight to reflect on her own bad decisions, hence why whenever she gets it she starts blaming herself for everything and apologizing for her mistakes.

It's been guessed that the Triforce of Courage also imparts skill with the sword, bow, etc., hence why Link is able to use even ancient technology and magic perfectly without practice

Edit: And Wisdom seems to allow for protective magic
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.

The question, of course, is how much skill with a sword, which is open to debate. :U

^ Enough to not stab himself accidentally

And who knows? Maybe the way he fences is the normal way in Hyrule/Termina/Where the fuck ever (I'm sure people would laugh at you if you spun around like a helicoptor propeller and called it a sword technique)

...Dear lord Hylian swordplay is fucking dangerous
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.

Actually, the spin attack is a secret technique from the royal family.

... which would explain why the royal family is so few, and never take to the battlefield. :>

  • At least in Wind Waker you turn into a magically-powered whirling tornado of doom that sunders all in its way, so it's kinda understandable there.

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

I liked how you got dizzy afterwards.
