I don't have as many opportunities to cook as I'd like

Glaives are better.

... And I'm usually stuck making the same thing. Namely, my beer-infused triple-kick chili that I created as an attempt to re-create from memory a recipe I found while creeping around inside Fess Parker's mansion the year after he died. It's been described as "orgasmic" by this chick I'm trying to sleep with, and has allowed me to get away with things I would not normally be able to get away in the convenience store, because I got the owner hooked and she doesn't want to piss off her dealer.

Unfortunately, I live in a dorm room with no access to a stove. I called in a few favors and got an enormous pot and spoons, a ride to the closest market (which was a good forty-five minutes away by car) and someone over the age of 21 to get the beer. I don't think I could swing it again, unless I delved into exchanging stove access for sexual favors, and then I'd just turn into a feminist, so that's out of the question.

I like to cook. I'm good at it. But I can't do it as much as I'd like. This bugs me.

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

I should really learn to cook...

  • Glaives are better.

It's a lot of fun, and it's useful too.

Also, if you only eat what you cook, you'll eat a lot less.

  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human

The premise made sense but the story was rather...interesting.

    Diet NEET

Erryday pasta day, unless I have people coming over. Then it's splurge and multiple course affairs.

On that note, Wednesday's going to be a texmex affair with tacos and tequila. Any appetizer/desert ideas?

    Loser

I think that once you are out of school you can experience a whole new problem with cooking. You might have the means to cook, but not necessarily the time or the willpower to do it (after a long day at work), at least not that frequently. That is why I pretty much agree with InsanityAddict about cooking for company, but maybe part of that is simply justifying laziness.

You can't go wrong with chips and salsa. Slice up some tomatoes, garlic cilantro, chives, onions and maybe some peppers and jalapeno, add a splash of hot sauce (I'd recommend Tapatío or Cholula) and a dash of lime. Mix it up in a bowl and serve it with some good chips - Tostitos will work, but I prefer Xochitl for their texture.

If you want to go for a more Mex theme, serve some chocolate for dessert. If you're leaning towards the Tex side, just serve up some ice cream.

  • Will do, thanks for the idea.

  • Why do I get the feeling that not a single part of Hatter's OP was true :/

In any cause, cooking is cool.

  • Glaives are better.

Actually, every single part of it was true. You can trust me.
