The argument on the Legendary Beasts in GSC

...Although I do wonder why people see Legendary Dogs as a viable option. You could interpret Suicune as a Wolf and Entei as some sort of guard dog, but Raikou is so obviously a sabre tooth tiger that it hurts

I never saw why they all had to be the same thing. I mean, Entei looks like a dog and Raikou looks like a tiger, so why can't Entei be a dog and Raikou be a tiger?

Mewtwo is probably partly descended from .hack//'s Macha.

I forget what mythical bird Articuno is however. I recall that it is known for its long tail and is possibly Egyptian

Edit: Also my research says Entei is a Shishi (guardian stone lion), Raikou is a Raiju (A thunderbeast that can take the form of things from a monkey to a wolf to a tiger), and Suicune is either a Kirin (basically a mishmash of things from deer to dragons to goats - Arceus is also a Kirin) or based on a wind deity that can don the skin of a big cat (I forget which one - I THINK it was a leopard) and bolt all over the place

Articuno appears to be kinda a mix of things, according to Bulbapedia. But it's most similar to an Anka or a Roc.
