  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Probably a good idea. My parents are actually planning on making me go to bed at a reasonable time.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
Well, it heals him to 20, Icalasari

    ...

...What does it take to wake up a knocked out Pokemon?

:< I now feel sorry for the Gulpin...
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
My potion heals him to full I'm assuming?
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
It heals him for 15 :V
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
so up to 23 then. K.

I won't be on between 9 and 5 tomorrow my time because work (excluding breaks, of course - I'll probably only manage to get a 30 minute break though unless it is slow enough for me to also score the 15 minute break)
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
Yeah, I probably won't be on enough to RP from around 3 PM my time to... 10?  11?  I'm not sure.  Heading to my grandparents' for Christmas Eve.

Yeah, tomorrow's Christmas here, so I'll be on and off :V

Do I choose Dynamo's ability, Cygan?

Also, will Gulpin wake up by itself or will I need to heal it at a center or with a potion to wake it up?

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
    Yeah, choose his ability :V

HP comes back to 25% of max after 8 hours rest.

    Has friends besides tanks now
I think I'll be here at my dad's again tomorrow, anyway, so it would be inconvenient to have another game.

    Goddammit, I had better not botch this talk with Machop. ;_;

I have one more idea, but after that I'd have to resort to repeating myself with my begging.

Ah. So Gulpin will probably wake up while we're all asleep. How lovely

    And I choose Static
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
    /After/ rest.

    And OK.

    Goddammit, I had better not botch this talk with Machop. ;_;

    Don't push too hard :V
  • Has friends besides tanks now
Well, how am I supposed to push? I've never dealt with traumatized people.

Like I said, I have one more idea, though.

...Wouldn't being out cold and carried everywhere count as rest?

...Also I wonder how open the Gulpin will be to joining Charles after finding out that he was being taken care of the whole time?

    Gently. :V

...Also I wonder how open the Gulpin will be to joining Charles after
finding out that he was being taken care of the whole time?

    Not very.
  • No rainbow star
^ Damn Gulpin should appreciate being carried around everywhere and kept safe, and should repay me by going in the Pokeball! >.>

Well, at the very least it shouldn't be too hard to ally with it
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
Most Pokemon aren't too concerned about it. Pokemon pretty much live to fight- you kind of come to expect being knocked out after a while, and not too many get eaten or whatever.
  • Has friends besides tanks now
I dunno what constitutes gentle, though. D:

Can't be too nice, can't be too assertive (and I didn't think I was doing that bad, at least in that regard).

    -sigh-

I have a feeling telling it that I can bring my friends for him to meet is a bad idea?

Can we not move too far until this is taken care of, please?
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
Yes, we can not move too far.

Just keep in mind that it's a low-level Machop in the care of a Team Rocket who obviously didn't care too much about it, and consider how that would affect its' behaviour.
  • Has friends besides tanks now
I was trying to. But that really doesn't give me much insight beyond "his life's sucked so far, and I want him to know it gets better."

Well think about it. It isn't going to trust humans because they were mean to it. So think: If you were a reasonably intelligent animal that was abused by humans, what would it take for a human to gain YOUR trust?

...And I wonder if food will convince Gulpin... I want it to be at least friendly enough not to try to kill us when it wakes up, so placing food when it starts to stir may help out with that...
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
Well, Machoke/Machamp/all its' evolutions really, really value strength. So, being at a low level, it would feel insecure about that.

Now, keep in mind that, and consider that the Rocket member was obviously not the best trainer around. And if even somebody that desperate was to abandon him because he wasn't tough enough, how do you think that would impact on his psyche?

And now you showed up, one of the people who defeated him, and as such you've already proved yourself tougher.

^^ . . . I don't know, because psychology isn't that simple and I don't know how I'd respond to any given level of abuse, or what I could provide it with that it would be confortable accepting without trusting me in the first place.

    ^ Ah. That makes sense.

I can't believe how bad I am at this. I really do suck at everything. I feel like it's too late now, anyway.

Taking into account what Cygan said, I'd say try to convince it that if its trainer wasn't so incompetent, it would have wiped the floor with us

^ Well, we do have to consider that it isn't at human intelligence (seems to be more dog intelligence according to the Pokedex... Which makes no sense as the in game Pokedexes seem to show that it can think well enough to study martial arts)

I can't believe how bad I am at this. I really do suck at everything.

I wouldn't say you suck at this, more that I've just had far too much time considering the impacts of terrible events on psyches.

I'd say try to convince it that if its trainer wasn't so incompetent, it would have wiped the floor with us

You might also want to convince it that you're a competent trainer who can help it become strong enough.

Specifically, strong enough to break free of the Pokeball's control and free itself from the Rocket member.

...You know, I've always wondered what stopped trainers from using a Pokeball on a KO'd Pokemon...

I'm also not sure how Jackie might reach such a conclusion. Neglect is apparent, but the connection to self-esteem isn't quite as clear-cut.

And besides, how do I bring that point up without making it feel that much worse about itself? I feel like just mentioning such a thing would sting too much, and doing anything to affirm its strength would be pandering.

...Its confidence probably wouldn't have been bruised so bad if it didn't get thrashed so thoroughly

    So it's all Mercer's fault 8D
