All the coolest pokemens get the most hate
Comments
Gengar, however, amuses me greatly.
The Porygon line of Pokemon is the only one I really particularly like.
Scythemantis,
If you only like one pokemon it may as well be a virtual reality balloon duck.
Porygon2 actually happens to be my favorite Pokemon for some reason. Gardevoir, Togekiss, Dragonite, and Porygon-Z are not far behind.
As for Scythematis's question about kids not wanting to hang out with piles of garbage. I imagine that is probably more indicative of good hygiene than anything else. Plus, in real life, huge stacks of trash tend to be overrun with bugs and even though I am guessing some people would like that, others are not fans of insects.
I think the rest of it comes down to people having different tastes which I actually see as a pretty good thing. I like hearing about people's different favorite Pokemon and seeing what teams they happen to be using. I am not quite sure why that it is, but I just find it pretty neat that people have their own preferences and styles of play.
That being said, it actually seems to me like Stunfisk has somewhat of a decent sized fandom because of its appearance. The Pokemon that I think tend to be less popular are actually the more generic ones (like Finneon or Zigzagoon) rather than the ugly ones. I could be wrong about that though.
But when I was a child from the 80's to 90's, "gross" and "messy" monsters were THE thing. Every kid wanted a Madball, a Mad Scientist Monster Lab or a He-Man slime pit. A monster made of garbage would have been one of the most popular pokemon for its defiance of order and sterility.
Now, kids are most into neat, tidy robots and anime dudes with swords.
Even if kids weren't always into dudes with swords and giant robots (coughpowerrangerscough) what's wrong with that?
Of course there's nothing wrong with kids loving robots and swords, it's just sad to see an overwhelming majority nowadays preferring seriousness and order to more lighthearted and weird. Instead of a more diverse and even mix of tastes you see a drastically lower appreciation for more oddball pokemon.
Genosect gets lots of love and it's a prehistoric insect with a cannon on it's back made into a robot
It naturally had that laser cannon on it's back in prehistoric times. OH SHI-
Cryogonal would have been cooler if its design was inspired by the Koch fractal, but I like what we got.
^As usual, I have to comment on how amusingly worthless Techno Blast is. It's like Game Freak was trying to send an environmental message in the form of game mechanics.
