  • Because you never know what you might see.
The implication is that they would deserve it whether He said so or not, but because He is just He lets them go there.
  • In any case, God does not like having to use hell. He cries every time one if his children goes there--why do you think people interpret Satan as wanting to tempt people to hell? If he is (I don't personally think he is), he does it to drive God into despair.
  • Umm, why create hell in the first place then? Knowing perfectly well that people will end up there? I'm sorry, but that sounds suspiciously like Why Did You Make Me Hit You
  • He made hell to throw Satan in. He gave us free will, and we choose to go in by committing sins (the meaning of sin, of course, varies). He doesn't want to use it, he hates using it. He may know everything we do, but he stays out of our actions, allowing us to exercise free will.

  • "1. Define staying out of our actions. Is he allowed to interfere at all with people by say, flooding the earth? Or is that acceptable, but changing people's minds for them forbidden?"

He had to let know of his existence somehow. After he laid down some groundwork and stuff, he was all "Okay bye now" and left permanently. He has no need to exert his will on other anymore.

"2. Robbing a bank does not mean that the robbers freely choose to go to prison. While it may or may not be deserved, calling where God puts us in the afterlife 'freely chosen' is stretching the concept. "

What I meant was that people choose to do these acts. They knew the consequences of their actions and committed them anyway (except in the case of certain mental psychoses, which I do not have an answer to). Those robbers knew that they could be sent to jail, and they still chose to commit the robbery.

"3. If God knows everything we do, then he is knowingly creating a large amount of people that he knows will burn forever. He could do things like (a) not create them at all (b) not allow them to have such shitty personalities, unless you think that God doesn't interfere with genetics (which brings up a lot more problems with the kind of 'free will' that's been brought up) or (c) have a rehabilitation program like Samsara instead of an eternal penitentiary. "

-thinks, since this is a tough question to answer-

....You know, I really don't have a answer for this. I've never though about religion and morality this deeply before. I'm gonna need some time to come up with an answer for this.

But this is a fascinating discussion.
  • ^And that is the point of discussions

So, again, the point of misotheism is not to say "The god is evil because...well, just because it is evil, period". There are several ideas about god even within Christianity under which this one would not consider him evil. But thinking about such things is important.
