That "Nerdbro" reminds me of the person who overly enthusiastically seemed to assume that the news reporter visiting our state's geek convention had an idea what headcrabs, Half Life 2, and Gordon Freeman were.

    ...on steroids.
  • Semi-thread-hop: It's important that the OP essentially involved young nerds. Because the true test of unreasonableness would be if a nerdbro (nice word, never seen it before!) assumed everyone knew what Skyrim is. I mean, my own damn best friend ever (that would be Frances) who is rather brilliant and is surprisingly aware of things because she sees them on tumblr and certainly isn't ignorant in the bad sort of way probably doesn't know what Skyrim is. If my mom knows what it is, it's only because my dad just ordered it from Amazon as a belated birthday self-present, otherwise she doesn't know shit about games.

My general strategy and advice to others as always is:

    Never assume anyone knows anything.
Assume that I (me personally, Evergreen, frog753, Josh [REDACTED]) have probably heard of something and have minimal understanding of it at least, because I'm a knowledge sponge like that.

@Evergreen, do you know who Alexander Tcherepnin is?
  • ...shit.

    Nope. Never even heard of.

    [facepalm]

I actually meant to say something more like "Assume I've heard of about half of all things" but I got derailed and messed up.
