...Holy hell Chagen. Even with my game world being in another reality I'm only making one conlang for the gods/ancient Illusorians, and just saying, "Other languages exist. You get them in English because readability"

Most people skip the fantasy language creation altogether. It doesn't really add that much to the story, IMO.

Something to consider when creating an alphabet is what tools the culture would have used early on.

For example, in Skyrim, Bethesda introduced the Draconic language. All of the characters in it are three scratch marks, since dragons write by scratching their three claws on stone.

Real-world examples can be found in the East Asian languages that were originally written in brushes.

Some more examples of what INUH is talking about:

• Tamil was originally written by tracing on leaves. 
• Phonecian was originally scratched into stone tablets. (this is what the Roman alphabet derives from, through Greek.)
• Norse runes were originally carved into wood.
• The Cherokee syllabary was made entirely by one guy, mainly in pencil.
