  • I reckon there's one hiding in that lampshade.

  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
Pffft, what's so good about ninjas anyway.

    Belief
They were retroactively turned into 1-man armies because of their use of stealth and the methods by which they train.

Why do you think Batman got popular? because he had tons of yaoi fans?

    because he tons yaoi fans
How do you ton a yaoi fan?
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
You'll note that his title is the Dark Knight, of course. >:(

  • You can change. You can.
bitch, please. Batman is not a ninja. He was trained by ninjas. There's a difference.

The Knight in his title is an artistic colloquialism for his crusade against crime. You'll note he doesn't ascribe to any rules of chivalry and uses ninja tactics, of stealth, deception, and subterfuge.

    ^Batman is first a foremost a detective.
  • @Alex: Batman is a knight in the same way Arthur is a historically accurate knight's tale.
  • You can change. You can.
    ^Batman is first a foremost a detective.

Yup. And a vigilante too, but that's mostly an extension of said detective...ism?
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Really, my biggest problem with Nolan's Batman-verse is the lack of detective stuff he does. It's mostly Lucius explaining things to him, except for that one scene with the bullet fragments that really doesn't make any sense.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
    Twas bias humour.

Also, I'd argue that Batman is certainly a "knight" in the wider cultural sense. That is, a knight is no longer a cavalryman or a warrior or even a title holder, but an idea. Which is why Batman has his subtitle.

But honestly I was trying to do a Ninjas vs. Knights derail.

Ninjas Vs. 'anything martial' is a dumb debate.

Ninjas do not fight head on. Ninjas pretend to be your gardener and then poison your food.

And really, what you say about knights you could say about anything popular in modern pop culture: samurai, pirates, musketeers, P.I.s....
  • Burn Notice is a good way to get into the "Ninja" Mindset.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
Arguable either way; we know that some ninja were peasants, for instance, but others were also fully-trained samurai. So ninja is a variable term that could contain a whole team of specialists, like some kind of Edo period A-Team.

Japanese A-Team vs. whatever is a pretty awesome debate in my mind.

BRB new anime idea. Selling to KyoAni.
  • Give them pleasure - the same pleasure they have when they wake up from a nightmare.
Ninjas?! OMG They might be here to assassinate me!

    *summons the Holy Princess Guard*
  • Why is everyone looking at me?
  • Give them pleasure - the same pleasure they have when they wake up from a nightmare.
    FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-!

KILL THE BASTARD MY PRECIOUS WARRIORS!

    "YES YOUR HIGHNESS!"
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
Wait, wait. Princess, isn't this a little hasty? What evidence do we have against this individual?

That they are a ninja? Hmmm, perhaps we can recruit them to entertain our warriors.

I may have to ask my adviser, Vivi the First.

Ninjas do make the perfect test-subjects.

    ~floods the thread with a neuro toxin~

I'm sorry, I shouldn't have told you the secret to my testing, if you would please roll over and die, that would be most acceptable.
