  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
So we're in agreement that it's current incarnation (the only one I'm familiar with) is a confusing mess?
  • If you want to be kind, yes.
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
Maybe you misunderstand me. Don't play the wargame. The video games and FFG's P&PRPGs are where it's at.
  • You can change. You can.
That's what they've been saying from the beginning, you silly Vampire bastard.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
Honestly, there isn't more to it than that in terms of calculations.

For instance, a ranged attack goes like this:

    - Measure to see if you're in distance.
    - Roll to hit.
    - Roll to wound.
    - Defender rolls armour saves.
    - Defender removes killed soldiers.

You often roll many dice at once when the same soldiers with the same weapons are using them at once. This just speeds up the game.

MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
^^^But the video games are all of genres that disinterest me and don't really do anything to make them stand out to me. I know of no one running the PPRPG either.

^^Is it? I thought at the beginning they were defending the setting, then we moved to system.

^I know I can't prove you wrong besides talking about the hour-long turns some players have had and that's not hard proof so I'm just going to say the books really don't make it easy for me to learn.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
The system has been awesome in the past, but is now a mess.

    Warhammer Fantasy remains awesome, however.
  • Just say screw it and pick up Blood Bowl instead, then.  It's like the demented lovechild of rugby and gridiron football run through a meat grinder, blasted with dark magic and fed to zombies.  It is awesome.
  • You can change. You can.

Well, not the beginning beginning, anyway.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
    ^^
Do it on Steam, then we could have an IJBM league.
    *dreams*

Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
Hour long turns shouldn't be happening outside of super large Apocalypse games.

Also, I'm thinking that I shouldn't have passed up Blood Bowl when it was on sale a couple weeks ago..
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
I'll admit Blood Bowl looks pretty cool, but I can't emotionally attach it to warhammer. Like, you could set it in WoW and it would actually make more sense to me there.

A turn should really take about ten minutes max.  At least, it used to. >.>

Also, seconding the BB league, because that sounds too awesome to pass up. b^_^d

^If it helps, BB is kinda sorta an alternate universe to regular Warhammer, branching off when they discovered the Temple of Nuffle.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
So the best Warhammer 40K game...

    technically isn't actually a warhammer 40K game...

  • $80+ per session
The only table top I've ever played is Maid RPG.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
    This is unsurprising.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
Guys you should all go buy Blood Bowl on steam, think of the league, the glory, the etc!
  • Blood Bowl is in Fantasy, actually, not 40k.  But yeah, it's, um, weird like that.

Maid is pretty fun, although it's difficult to run a long lasting campaign of it.  It's good for one-shots, though.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Maid is pretty much "Hey we're all horny nerds with an afternoon free! Let's be speculative fiction fetish lesbians!"

Please note that I am not saying that is not awesome.
  • You can change. You can.
    >Joker reaction image

how come that is not in my image macro collection?
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
It's $40 though. I can't throw that much money around for a game that I might not be able to run. >_>

I'll wait for the inevitable sale.

    ^
Time travel back to the most recent weekend where for you yanks it was $8.
(Also my pc can run it on minimum with 1gb ram on Vista and a rubbish video card, I'm sure yours can.)

MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
You know, for all Whitewolf's narrative base, it really lacked in strong novels. The only ones I read that I liked were the Setite clan novel and The Life and Times of Penny Dreadful, the latter of which was so candy goth it practically gave you bat-shaped lollipops.
  • $80+ per session
I'm tempted to run a Maid RPG game here.
  • I would be up for some Maiding, no doubt. >.>  It is a fun system, after all.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
So long as we all have to do randomly generated characters. It's more fun that way....

errrrm... I mean.... you guys are totally pervs for wanting to play that... yeah...
  • Never said I wasn't! :P

And yes, random gen!  Although I'm sure as hell not using a character generator program thingy.  Hand rolled dice all the way, baby~

    $80+ per session
Yes, it would be randomly generated/rolled....Hmmm

I do believe I shall do this. After I think up a quick plot.

I have the book right here.

    >Turns into planning for Maid

So, where do we want to do it? What genre?

Space? Fantasy Land? Urban? Cyberpunk? Steampunk? What?
