The volatility varies based on which subforum you go to. The Video Games subforum, for example, is a prime offender. But the same could be said of all forums.

Though I think some isolation might be provided by the fact that a lot of the really stupid people don't even realize the site has a forum.

That's true of most sites, it seems.

Which is possibly why comments sections on webcomics and such always have posts at least twice as stupid as anything on the actual forums.

Comments sections definitely rank among the worst things the Internet has to offer. Rather than discuss things, people want to hog 15 minutes of fame and have everyone else agree with them. Interestingly, they trend towards shooting down everyone who disagrees while with a forum thread, there usually tends to be several contrarians who are at least somewhat accomodated.

Judging by some of the crap I've seen there, I'd give myself nightmares imagining what kind of thing could possibly get a person banned from Youtube comments.

I will be going offline for a bit. I am being kicked out of my mother's house for a few ~~days~~ ~~weeks~~ ~~months~~ ??? and I will only be able to get on the internet at the library tomorrow, and will try to find a way to survive homeless for a few....periods of time. Wish me luck.
