Aw, seriously? The cutscene after fighting it gave him character development, so I assumed it was right.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
Yeah, seriously. Luckily for me, I took that option anyway due to laziness.

    Let's see:

In order to get Volcanus Custom, Rhadamanthys Custom, Eros Custom, Maia Custom and Durga, you need to fulfil certain conditions.

    They are:

    - In Club Zodiac, don't help Michelle against the Head

    - In the Music Hall, don't help Ginko during the concert

    - In Sky Museum, do let Maya save the girl

    - In Katatsumuri, don't leave Yuuki behind.

Okay, I'll do the others, definitely.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
    Good!

I like that they've expanded the persuasion system since P1.

I've never played any SMT games except this one.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Well, in P1 you can only select one person to do the persuading, while P2 lets you select up to three.

P3 and (I assume; I haven't played it) P4 don't use the persuasion system because you're fighting Shadows instead of demons.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Play Persona 4. It's seriously the best JRPG I've ever played.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
I know it's the best of the series (Persona really just keeps getting better), but I'm waiting for the rerelease.

    Remedy this. Now.

But not with the first; it's kinda meh.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Honestly, 3's a good place to start. It's defined the SMT as an entire franchise quite a bit.

^^ Won't that screw up story progression?

Or is it like, say, Zelda, where the games don't affect each other?

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Nah. They're separate stories. There are a few repeat characters, but they're otherwise separate.

And 1/2 are only a videogame in the 3/4 universe.
  • You can change. You can.
I've never played a single Persona game

also, i have no way of fixing this that doesn't involve emulation and fuck dat noise
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
    I took a look at Persona 3.

I don't much like the idea of having to manage my time like that, though.

    ^^You don't have any of:

    PS1
    PS2
    PSP
    3DS?

^Not as hard as it sounds unless you're a truly obsessive completionist.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
Not as hard as it sounds, but still really annoying to have to do.
  • You can change. You can.
PS1: Nope. It got destroyed in the move out

Ps2: I think I've told the story of how my mom thought it would be nice to give it away to a cousin without telling me. Also, I actually had lent it to a friend who was using it.

PSP: Nope. Never was really interested beyond a couple of games

3DS: Too expensive, the only games I care for in it are remakes, and apparently Persona, going by this conversationg.

^Ah. Wow, you've had some bad luck with Sony systems.

^^Not really. You don't budget your time so much as you just do stuff.
  • You can change. You can.
Yeah, my PS3's controller got damaged recently too. I left it at home and some jackass thought it'd be smart to leave the windows during rain season.
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
Personally, I found P3 to be the weakest of the series (well, 1 might be worse but I haven't played that). However, I do agree that 4 is the best, and deserves its title as the last great game of the PS2.

Also, INUH. Have you played Strange Journey? It's pretty awesome in an old school kind of way in terms of gameplay, setting, and music.

    ^^Wow...

Well, replacing that would solve your problem with lacking a PS1, but then you could only play Persona 1 and the second half of Persona 2.

^Haven't yet. Will at some point...there are way too many games... And trust me, 1 is...honestly, it's not really all that good at all.
  • You can change. You can.
The problem with that is also that I don't have a bank account, so no Downloadable Games for me. Yet. Until february, wheeeee

    I don't have a PS1/3/P or 3DS, and I lack a memory card for my PS2

^^^^3 has Aegis. Your argument is invalid.

Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
    >Does not particularly like Aegis.

But really, I think 4 is better because it handled the Social Link system far better than 3. The links were overall better written, and gave better reasons why you interact with the people you do. 3's social links felt more random and haphazard. Like interacting with some random monk at a bar? Some rather ammoral buisinessman? A random classmate who has a crush on a teacher? Ehhh...

Not that 4 didn't have its weird ones too (why halo thar intelligent shrine fox!).

What I'm getting at is that 4 is far more down to earth, which for a jRPG is rather rare, and that's why I like it better.

Though, if I were to recommend an SMT game to a person that doesn't like jRPGs. I'd ask them to play Strange Journey first. If they do like jRPGs then I'd say to go and play P4, because frankly, the later Persona games have a REALLY weabooish dub (honorifics left untranslated and spoken with English pronounciations? Blech!)

ONE MORE THING! None of you have mentioned the Raidou Kuzonoha games! Shame on you all! >:(
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Haven't played them yet either. I only got into Megaten a couple years ago.
