  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
in b4 "this topic is dumb"
  • You can change. You can.
no, but it could use some actual discussion.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
In that case, I agree. There's nothing much else to say.

Irritatingly enough, of course, by saying "I agree", I can only express a personal opinion. So this topic has potential to be deliciously inception.
  • Well someone tells you you're wrong, you might not be wrong, but it's always good to reexamine? yes, then when someone asks for evidence and you don't provide anything
  • You can change. You can.
My problem is when people, specially here, can't separate their opinion from fact and start ranting about how their preferences are objectively better without any support to their arguments beyond "Well...they are"
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
^^ For some reason, all I can say to that is "Extra Credits".
  • You can change. You can.
    oh not this again

  • Juan, I'll change the title if you want to debate about Extra creditz...
  • You can change. You can.
the title was something I came up with. Now why would you ever think that I want you to change that, child.
  • I have this T-shirt.

    It says:

"Everything I say is substantiated by my own opinion"
  • That T-shirt has got it going on.

    This topic *IS* dumb.

Fact/opinion type things should not at all be hard for the listener to discern without the speaker having to load their speech with a bunch of crap like "Well, I know this is an opinion, so x is true maybe". Or something else stupid.

Everyone knows that it is an opinion, and it speaks little of listeners who are unable to comprehend; Especially if a listener feels the need to interject and say "YOU KNOW THAT WHAT YOU ARE SAYING IS AN OPINION RIGHT?". Terribly annoying. In fact, I daresay that it is one of my pet peeves.

Separating fact from opinion is something schools have kids doing in 1st grade; it isn't hard.

  • Good to hear your opinion on the matter.

It's too bad nothing you said is fact.

Personally, I think it's just polite to recognise the potential invalidity of your own considerations. Nice people do this in social situations.
  • Well, It certainly is a pain that these people hold to this even when pushed to reveal the truth.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
If there's even an objective truth, mind.
  • Objectively, they don't know the truth, but they pretend they do with incorrect and misinformed opinions.

Like if I said, All the bread I've eaten is white bread, thus, all bread in the world is white bread, I would neither be objectively true, nor factually true, but if I continue to make this proclamation, then perhaps I can just wear everyone down so that no one argues with me anymore?

After all, the opinions of others don't matter to someone with an ego like mine, when I make posts that assume you are educated in the simple facts of my opinions.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
    No argument there.
  • Alex, I'm pretty sure all bread is white bread, no, I don't need any of your links, I've been eating bread for 16 years.

I think I know a little bit more about this than you.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
Then what were those grains in my sandwich?
  • $80+ per session
Sometimes I will say an opinion as fact, when I actually state it. As in:

    "This is better."

    not

    "I think this is better"

But when someone responds with "Yeah well, that's just, like, your opinion, man." I don't argue that.
  • I often dislike it when people don't see the implied "In my opinion". Then I remember I'm guilty of that a lot myself.
  • @Alex. Probably some sort of illusion.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
I think you need to open your mind about sandwiches, Clocky. There's a big great sandwich world out there, and you're missing out because of your insipid belief in a white-only world.

    Racist.
  • a little muffled
It is my opinion that my opinion is objective fact.
  • You can change. You can.
It is a fact that your opinion is that your opinion is objective fact.
