My computer has bricked AGAIN.

Seriously. This is the 5th time in 4 weeks that my computer has bricked. THE FUCKING 5TH TIME IN 4 WEEKS. Now the computer can't even find the hard drive. At least the previous four times were Windows Installation Corruptions. Seriously. Fuck you, HP. The fact that you could put out a product this fucking terrible is a disgrace.

Maybe it's time to get a new computer.

    Just a thought.

Fun fact: It could, in fact, be your fault.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
^As someone who's owned a few HPs, I find it likely that it's not.

My Nan owns a HP, and it works just fine.

I suggest you find out what the problem is before throwing blame at them.
  • It's not my fault. At all. Nothing I did would have caused this.

Unless I somehow got a virus while visiting Fapchan. Or I got one while torrenting, but I only used two reliable torrents that a bunch of other people confirmed as to being virus-free.

Forzare: My family doesn't have that kind of money.

That contradicts like... everything you've ever said about your family's monetary situation.
  • Look. Yeah, we do have money, but we don't ever have any for big-ticket spending. We have to take care of two households--my grandfather's is the other one, which can sometimes put a strain on our finaces.
  • I've been using this HP laptop for nearly two years and only NOW has it's battery started to die on me. On top of that, I've never had a single issue with it. It's great.
  • Just don't buy five PS3 games or something
  • You can change. You can.
HP laptops are unreliable, mind. Ventilation tends to get easily cluttered, for example. But those are things you can easily fix.

^^^My HP Laptop, meanwhile, had the hinge detach because of a cracked screw after one year. And I'd already been planning to replace it because, well, it was a piece of shit. If you actually used the capabilities it was advertised as having, it overheated after about thirty seconds.
  • Are Alienware laptops more reliable?

I want an M11-X Netbook from them, but I don't want it to brick in a year.

From what I've heard, they're good, but not enough to justify the price tag.

A word of advice on gamers getting laptops: if you want a gaming computer and you want a laptop, get a gaming computer and a laptop. "Gaming laptops" generally involve getting less for more.
  • My dad, if he saves up for about a year, can pay that much.

^^This. You'll essentially pay a good 200-300 extra for little more than a cool looking chassis.

    Asuses are a better deal.

There's a difference between "can pay for it" and "would get the money's worth."
  • "^^This. You'll essentially pay a good 200-300 extra for little more than a cool looking chassis."

I know this sounds utterly indulgent, materialistic, and superficial, but that cool-looking chassis is so worth the 200-300 extra.

Even if you could have bought a more capable computer with that money instead? Or hell, looking at those prices, you could get a better computer with less money.
  • Dude

I can make it glow, like, 16 milliom different colors

    /not serious

[serious] Yeah, I could. What other company makes good gaming laptops?[/serious]
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
No company makes good gaming laptops. Some make better ones than others, but it's still a matter of spending more money for a lesser product.
  • >Implying that portability makes it lesser of a product

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Portability doesn't make it a lesser product. Overheating and crashing when trying to use 60% of a cheaper desktop's power does.

I prefer a loss in performance for portability, so a gaming laptop is great (Just need one that can run Portal 2, and I'm set (Since it should then run Minecraft well as well))
  • You can change. You can.
    > Gaming laptop
    > Portal 2

    keep dreaming

(OK, it is possible, but you will have to reduce the graphic setting, I think)
  • Given that the M11-X can have Crysis 2 installed on it from the factory, I assume some gaming laptops can run Portal 2 just fine.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
    Crysis 2 isn't as badly-optimized as Crysis 1, from what I've heard.
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
Doesn't the MX-11 not have any sort of optical drive? That'd be a deal breaker for me.
  • >No company makes good gaming laptops. Some make better ones than others,
but it's still a matter of spending more money for a lesser product.

Pretty much this. The best way to go is to make one yourself, they're cheaper that way too. Though I understand not everyone has the technical know-how. 'Tis a conundrum.
  • "Doesn't the MX-11 not have any sort of optical drive? That'd be a deal breaker for me."

Yeah, but I can buy an external CD drive and torrent the rest anyway.

Juan: I don't mind playing on lowest settings

Besides, I need a new laptop soon for classes that will require a good one. So yeah. If I don't mind playing on minimum settings, don't mind a performance drop, and need a laptop anyways...

Although fuck ACAD's suggestion of a Mac. No way in hell am I buying one of those
