  • Fun fact: In Touhou fanworks, everyone gets shipped with everyone else.  So... I mean, if you have to get bothered by something, don't let it be which pairings people happen to like...  Every character is subject to some fairly strange ones.

That said, loli vampire wincest.  So Remila/Flandre is still the best pairing.
  • Fucking boys and their horrible shipping tastes...

Actually, the only Touhou ship I particularly care about is Youmu/Yuyuko.  They're my two favorite characters, and they're really cute together.

Though, I felt I should give the stereotypical DYRE response, so... yeah.  I supported lolivampirecest.
In actuality, I don't really know anything about either of the Scarlet sisters (since I'm not much of a Touhou fan), so... I dunno how much I like that pairing.
  • I don't like any Touhou ships because they don't have enough characterization or biographies to help me actually pair the ones I relate to and like. Sure they could be japanese stock characters with no real personality, and it's all implied by memes and famous porn doujins, but then, where's the fun in that?
  • They have a fair amount of personality in the games.

I mean, the characters don't generally have much depth, but... that really barely matters.  And the characters do have enough personality that they feel different from the other characters, at least.

The characters occasionally get fleshed out more within doujinshi, so it's not always like they have no personality whatsoever.  It's just that it's not necessarily consistent from one work to another.
  • Shipping operates in the same manner as Draco In Leather Pants. When in doubt, make up personality traits.
  • They don't need depth, per se, but they should have likes/dislikes, quirks and a motivation to shoot the shit out of each other.
  • Um... they do.

    Well, to some extent.

I mean, most of everyone's dialogue is just puns that don't work when you translate them to English but even still most of the characters end up with something resembling a personality.  And then fans usually agree on more details for all the characters, and I guess you don't like that but I'm not really sure why that shouldn't count.  I mean, if you're interested in Touhou for the characters, you probably are interested in doujinshi anyway, so... I dunno.

Oh, and the motivation for shooting each other is generally, for the first 3 levels of every game, just "for the hell of it."  Then the next level is like "because they know how to accomplish whatever I'm trying to accomplish" and then it's like "because they did something so I need to shoot the shit out of them to do something else"
  • Links DYRE.

Link me to this magical shit I didn't know that existed until now.

    Links to what?

Links to... my very basic knowledge of Touhou game stories?  That's not something you can link to...

These are pretty funny, if I remember correctly.  Also they don't have any shipping.  Or... not much anyway.  There might be some, but I can't remember.  It's been a while since I read either of those.  Those are really webcomics though, so... I dunno.

Um... I know I've read other things that are good, but... I can't remember.  It's been a while since I've read anything Touhou-related, and I was never very into it in the first place, so my knowledge is very limited.

    Sankku DYRE-sempai!!!

wait...DELETE MODE IS ACTIVE FOR ME?
  • It's not just the games that build their personalities, the written materials expand them quite a bit.
  • Also, it's hard to like Guttersnipe because the only people who listen to it are apple laptop users at starbucks who pretend they are the only ones who listen to it...:<
  • I'LL STAY MAI HAUNDS...WITH YAU BLAHT
Only one series has had this effect on me, and that's Soul Eater.

I jumped into it pretty blindly from its trope page and enjoyed the episodes Funi was previewing. It was interesting stuff, with a very fun Gothic twist and enjoyable characters.

Then I see poorly-drawn versions of Soul and various shipping pairs and realize this is just another Big Three shonen.

I learned it was just another generic shonen series once I... started reading it, really.

Though at the very least, the art's good and it has interesting character designs and a cool setting, which puts it above the level of the Big Three anyway.
  • I like the opening "Papermoon" thats about all i know about it

I have never seen the anime and I don't intend to.

In my ridiculously-small nearly-nonexistent only-watched-one-such-anime-ever-and-I-don't-know-if-it-even-counts-because-I-don't-know-how-people-define-that-genre experience with shonen fighting series, they work better as manga.

Your lack of interests and uninformed opinions disturb me.
  • edited 2011-03-06 03:36:31
    I have plenty of interests.

Shonen fighting anime just isn't one of them.

And... I try to have relatively informed opinions on things.  When I don't, I usually at least try to say that my opinion is uninformed, like I just did.
  • You said you only like Lolis and Moe.
  • No... I didn't say that actually.
  • STOP LIKING THINGS I DONT LIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
