When people crack the spines of my books.

MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
I generally try to take good care of my books. >_>

This one girl at the religious retreat asked to looked at the book I was reading. When I acquiesced, she then took it, pulled it open really hard then began flipping through it going 'Dicks dicks dicks dicks that's what you're reading.'

Juvenile though the humor might have been I wouldn't have minded if she hadn't made three rather visible cracks in the spine, then dropped it so that the corners were flattened. >_<

Why does no one respect my books? ;_;

  • My mother does this with library books.

    Library books.

It makes me want to throw them at her, but that would only damage them more.

    A pox on her house!
  • /pretentious shitpost mode on

The value of a book is in the information it contains within. So long as the damage did not impede its capacity to deliver it, the harm is superficial.

Wow, that was pretty dicky. It wasn't a particularly valuable book, was it?
  • Pick the book back up and smack her across the face with it.

It was a paperback, so it wasn't a particularly big deal, but still. It's someone else's property, you know? >_>

Also, I see what you did there.
  • ^^^Why did that remind me of Aliroz The Confused? (Not saying he's pretentious.)
  • The OP just gave me the mental image of a female Bane breaking the spine of a book.
  • My books are all tattered, as long as the text is legible, I don't mind.
  • No rainbow star
I only recently learned how to open a book all the way without cracking the spine
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
    Better my books than me.
  • You can change. You can.
So you wouldn't mind me cracking the spine of that shiny Ex Machina copy in your room? ^_^
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
No, I'd just prefer it to you cracking my spine.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
    ^^
    I'm not in INUH's room. /missingthepoint
  • You can change. You can.
Well, the implication there was that you'd get your spine broken if you didn't let me break Ian's.

And yes, you're in his room. Don't know why.

    I'm guessing it was research.
  • $80+ per session
INUH isn't young enough for him.
