If inbred rednecks and birth defected "danglies" didn't exist in America...

and selective inbreeding was encouraged and measured out properly amongst american families, would cousin to cousin Incestual relationships be less squicky in society?

I'm sure there is a natural reaction to incest anyway (must spread seed to other gardens, not my own) but generally in most incest relationships would be fine otherwise?

  • Despite the fact that there's nothing morally or objectively wrong with Homosexual relationships, people still flip their shit when they hear homosexuality exists.

    My guess, No.
  • Are birth defects from incest all that common in America? I know there's a stereotype of that for rednecks, but I don't have any idea how accurate it is.

Anyway, cultural attitudes change and I don't think the taboo against relationships with cousins is likely to be all that dependent on observed results. IIRC, there isn't even an increased chance of birth defects between mates as closely related as siblings for the first generation.
  • Sounds like an excellent premise for incest smut of which the consumers can defend their partaking of by claiming it has deep and intellectual merits.
  • what are you talking about
  • Like dis: an alternate-universe America where inbred rednecks and defectve "danglies" don't exist, and selective inbreeding is encouraged and measured out properly amongst American families, cousin-to-cousin relationships are considered not squicky at all.

A gal from our world, let's call her Alice, warps to that one through use of whatever Macguffin is at hand, which gives a premise to explore to political and social ramifications of the setting, as well as allow her to make sweet time with the alternate universe clone of her attractive cousin Bob.

  • Kichigai birthday!!
Or maybe she just could travel to Europe.

Here in Spain, cousin to cousin relations aren't very common, but when one happens is seen as normal

Except Europe doesn't have rednecks or defective danglies.
  • Glaives are better.
^ You've never been to the West Country or anywhere in Hapsburg country.

I think that part of the reason why incest is taboo because there's a psychological effect that suppresses sexual desire for people you grow up with. Not positive, though.

There aren't rednecks in the West Country at all :s.
  • Glaives are better.
    Oo arr.

    They are just farmers/country folk.

They don't have the same stereotype at all.
  • Glaives are better.
    Riiight.

Rednecks: Gun toting moonshine drinking homophobic inbreeding racists etc.
West country folk: Cider drinking, farming, wear straw hats and always have a piece of straw in their mouth, simple minded etc.
  • Are country folk generally considered religious/conservative like they are in the states?
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
    Not really.

Unless they are Irish country folk.
