Man, half the time I can't even tell if they're having an actual effect.

  • How the fuck do you curl a bicep?

Yes I know what a bicep curl is you dumb motherfuckers
  • Well, first you need some hair curlers, then some Canadian curling sticks, then a few cheese curls for flavor...
  • @Don. do you have muscles? <3

^^ Not so much yet, but I'm working on it.

My chest and upper arms have gotten more definition to them of late though, if that counts for anything.

^ Yo man, you just jelly. Jelly!

  • Give it time Donny :3

    Muscles take time

For me, biceps and triceps came really easily. It's pecs that are difficult.

Average exercise results don't physically manifest until maybe 4-6 weeks after continuous sessions. Unless we're talking abs, in which they show up like 20 minutes later.
  • ^ Makes sense. I've been doing regular pushups since mid-July, and I only started the gym membership back up a few weeks ago.

Also, depending on how you're doing your curls, you may only see an increase in strength while your muscles themselves don't increase in size. For the most part, though, the tone of the muscles will increase.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
Of course, muscles can only get so dense before you see an increase in size. So if you're not getting bigger but are getting stronger, then you're actually better off in the long term.

Besides, in practical terms, getting really big isn't all that great. You'll be slower than lighter people in a fight, for instance, and you don't need to be built like a brick shithouse to wreck someone badly.

While the above is true to an extent, speed has very little to do with mass. You can be bulky and fast just as easily as you can be wiry and slow. This common misconception has led to many people getting their shit completely fucked in a fight against a bigger guy.

The bigger they are, the harder they fall?
The smaller they are, the further they fly back.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
Well, the general point was that efficient muscle is better than big muscle. The one with efficient muscle will be strong in speed and strength, whereas the one with larger muscles has more mass to shift with a similar amount of strength.

I will agree that muscle density is preferable to muscle size.
  • Quit being a whiny bitch and man up.
    But having both is awesome.

Rebuilding muscles gets you sore but eventually when they begin to mend themselves and your muscle fibers are growing back, they use protein to come back more durable.
