Christian Media

The Christian Media is a mixed bag of quality. Being how I used to be Christian, I have been exposed to a bit of this.

Christian movies can be pretty decent actually, as long as they stay away from special effects.

Christian music can be really good. A lot of Christian musicians are influenced by mainstream acts and thus can because the Christian version of that act. However, the actual lyrics are another things. For the non-religious, the lyrics can be lame or hokey.

Christian videogames... HAHAHA!

    Careful with what you're saying...

    >Christian movies can be pretty decent actually

    Oh, OK.

There's also a lot of good stuff that, while not explicitly Christian, have associated themes of varying strength, be it books, movies, series, songs, etc.

I think my friend (a hardcore athiest/anti-theist) nearly fainted when I told her that The Devil Wears Prada, her favorite band, was a Christian band.
  • Mr. The Edge goes to Washington

Yeah, I'm not going to bash the Christian media because I don't agree with their views, but I am lookin at it in terms of quality. I can't really complain too much about writing or acting. However, there are the Omega Code movies. I guess you could say those are Christian movies, but if so they tried too hard to appeal to a mainstream audience. The end result was embrassing. Same goes for the Left Behind movies. Christian movies are better in their own element.

  • I don't really see what this IJBM is about actually.

Stuff of poor quality made by Christians?

Stuff of a good quality that can be jarring when it puts a message into the work?

Honestly, All works of fiction can transfer meaning and message across to the consumers, the fact that some Christians just fail to do this with their media projects isn't new or original.

There is a Rapture movie starring Mr. T. I gotta see that!
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
i don't know what i just watched but i feel like i've just been sodomized by jesus
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
No, Forzare, it works out because sodomy makes Jesus cry, so he was crying while sodomizing you, so he didn't enjoy it which makes it rape on your part, and if you like raping Jesus then you're an atheist, and if you're an atheist then you don't believe in Jesus, meaning he doesn't exist, so you were never sodomized.
  • This is why the Jews run the media instead.

  • Some of the books are OK, the movies are good but I have no taste in movies anyway the music is great and the video games are terrible.
  • Mr. The Edge goes to Washington
Radd, who is your favorite Christian band or musician?
  • Mr. The Edge goes to Washington

I like those guys still. They are one of the better Christian bands to have hit the mainstream as well.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe actually had very good special effects IMHO.

who is your favorite Christian band or musician?

Petra (warning: may offend some non-Christians)

    the video games are terrible.

Wait... Christian video games exist? Not that that's any weirder than anything else, but seriously, this is the first I've heard....  Guess I'm not exactly missing out.

^They are few and far between, but yes they exist. One of the most notorious is Super Noah's Ark 3D by Wisdom Tree (Who made serveral Bible games for NES) on SNES. This game was an FPS made with the Doom Engine. You play as Noah who goes around the Ark armed with a slingshot and has to feed the disgruntled animals with it till they fall asleep. This game (as was all of Wisdom Tree's games) was an unlicensed game and since the SNES was protected against unlicensed games, Super Noah's Ark 3d's cart had a lock-on feature (like Sonic & Knuckles) and lock-on any other SNES game to override the block.

Guitar Praise is the Christian Guitar Hero. Dance Praise is the Christian Dance Dance Revolution. There is a Left Behind PC game that caused a big contraversy.
  • ^^ Man, I love that game!

There was the Bible Game for Xbox, som (Read: one) minigames were good, and it doesn't teach you anything that you wouldn't learn in K-5 Sunday School.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
My favourite Christian band is Black Sabbath.
  • Mine is Insane Clown Posse.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Madass: well, when you listen to fools...
  • Has friends besides tanks now
I think the most enjoyable Christian band I've listened to is As I Lay Dying.
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
    I love them. They're a Christian band?
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
THE MOOOOOOOB REWLS duuuun dunna dunna dun
  • Also, remember, this is a Christian movie:

@Forzare: Well, not so much a Christian band, as much as five Christians in a band.

    Quoth Tim Lambesis:

"I'm not sure what the difference is between five Christians playing in a band and a Christian band. If you truly believe something, then it should affect every area of your life. All five of us are Christians. I believe that change should start with me first, and as a result, our lyrics do not come across very 'preachy.' Many of our songs are about life, struggles, mistakes, relationships and other issues that don't fit entirely in the spiritual category. However, all of these topics are written about through my perspective as a Christian."
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
    ^^ Actually, that's a Jewish movie.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
I prefer the term "Judaic", sounds cooler.
  • Actually, that's a Jewish movie.
They're all the same shit until the J-man comes around.
  • So it's not really Christian since there is no Gee-Whiz.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
I remember that movie, very vaguely, but it was amazing.
