MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Will they be upset when I tell them Christmas is now twice a year?

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
I really don't get this. I mean, game system prices all drop, and this is probably the first time ever that early buyers actually get something out of it.
  • I'm reminded of all the bitching after the original iPhone's price dropped.
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
I'm angry because the GBA games that the early adopters are getting are never being publicly released.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
I'm almost certain Nintendo's going to go back on that part after a couple months.

    What happened?

And why exactly are people upset?
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
3DS' price was halved due to abysmal sales.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Don't think it was quite halved. Didn't it only drop by a third or so?
  • So why exactly are people upset? Does a dropped price generally indicate something bad?

Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
    It dropped by $80.

^The fact that it's dropped so quickly indicates that Nintendo needs these things to sell, which raises some dire questions.
  • You can change. You can.
    Such as?
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
Why is Nintendo so worried about the success of the 3DS when it's selling the same as the DS was selling at this point in its lifetime?
  • Ah well, the 3DS sucks anyway.
  • Poot dispenser here
^^They either forgot about that or they see the 3DS as being riskier.

Early adopters being upset makes no fucking sense. Clearly, they thought it was worth the $250 when they first bought it.

3DS' price was halved due to abysmal sales.
Dropped by a third. Also, 4 million in 4 months isn't "abysmal" in any sense of the word.
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
It's not Virtual Boy levels of bad, by any means. But in today's market 4 million isn't going to cut it.
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
Is that U.S. or international sales?

International. As I said, it's not bad by any means. Average, maybe. The price drop occured because it wasn't selling anywhere near Nintendo's expectations, which I assume were "the DS late in its life span"-levels of sales. That, and third parties were generally being cautious about releases, waiting until sales picked up.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Today's market is not the market of the DS. Nintendo is facing steeper competition, and if the people selling it think it's failing we're not in a position to argue.
  • It doesn't matter what the 3DS' price is. Right now its library consists of ports of games people have played 10 years ago and half-assed shovelware. Not to mention that everyone knows Nintendo is going to release a 3DS Lite that is better in every way than the orignal.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
That was true of the DS at the start too. Except for the bit about the lite being better in some hypothetical way than the original; not sure where you got that :P

It's got some good games down the line. Give it time.
