that nobody remembers the TurboGrafx/PC-Engine

An awesome little console that kind of got left by the wayside during the days of Nintendo and Sega's rivalry. Despite this, it actually had quite a couple of awesome games. So, anyone here remember it?

    I do.

Actually, I don't remember it; I first learned of it while getting into the Castlevania series and learning that the holy grail was a game called "Rondo of Blood" that was on this system.

Did you ever get to play that?
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
Yes, but not on the original system.
  • Now, now, there were other games on the system than just Rondo Of Blood.

    There was Last Alert! :p

    Educate me: What's Last Alert?

*is making a list of games to scour for on eBay*
  • I have two TurboGrafx consoles here. Ones' a great big fucker that accepts tiny little carts. The other is a little fucker that takes CD-Roms.

Yeah, I never understood why they made the Grafx so effing huge. The Japanese PC-Engine was tiny.

You can see pictures of the consoles at www.pcenginefx.com

@the video... so, Last Alert is kinda like Commando?
  • Silence is golden.
    The Legendary Axe is awesome.

Isn't there this really, really sweet obscure shmup that's for TG16/PCE?
  • no longer cuddly, but still Edmond
Eh? I don't remember the TG16 being particularly large compared to contemporary consoles.

Just the main unit by itself wasn't much bigger than a model 2 Sega Genesis... but when you got the CD-ROM addon (which IIRC required an adapter unit) hoo boy. The AVGN shows what the complete setup looks like in his Street Fighter 2010 episode.

The funny thing is it actually has a very small circuit board, so a lot of the console is really just empty plastic. In japan it was actually a really tiny console at first, until they started releasing the Duos (units that combined the hucard and CD-ROM units into one console).
