It saddens and disgusts me.  The worst part perhaps, is that it seems the destruction is largely opportunistic.

On a less serious note, @PoliceMan: Evil yet Benevolent Overlord solution (AKA fiddling while Rome burns):
1. Legalize looting.
2. Legalize shooting people trying to damage your property.
3. Give shop owners free guns.

Actual proposed sollution, or so I heard:
1. Put cameras where rioting is expected.
2. use facial recognition software.
3. go frame by frame and charge rioters with as many criminal offenses as possible.

The rioting does seem to be rather pointless.  I don't see a point of bashing and burning your own neighborhood's shops.  If they really wanted to inflict violence at a responsible party, I thought this was about police brutality.

It kind of was at the start, and there might be still a small undercurrent but really as far as I can see most people are calling it hijacked by troublemakers etc.

Seriously, seeing people smashing up random shops and pulling things out of walls and such is...just arrest these people, plzkthx.

If you want a revolution, you had better first have good reason, and then go about it correctly.  This fits neither.

They are being arrested en masse and charged, London riots are pretty tame/non existent tonight due to just a higher number of police.

Other large towns have sporadic light flare ups, but it seem basically done now.

Also turns out that Duggan shooting that caused the original gathering that was turned into a riot has been looked at by the IPCC.

It shows that Duggan did not shoot at all, police shot first (and hit another policeman's radio).

Overall, there is a lot of racists/right wingers coming out the woodwork about this all, completely ignoring whilst the riots themselves aren't political, there are political caused than can be attributed to the willingness/easily triggered-ness. (Social spending cuts etc).

Edit:

It wasn't a protest against disenfranchisement, lack of opportunities, piss-poor education, lack of political representation and cultural alienation but it is BECAUSE of those things that there are gangs of lunatics running about smashing up shops and thieving everything in sight.
