MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
...in Chinese....

Evidently it's one of the biggest shows in Asia...

AND I CAN'T FIND IT SUBTITLED.

There's like, fifty TV adaptations of Journey to the West, dude.

A version from the 1970s was released in English and came out on DVD in the UK (I think it has an option for Chinese with English subs too).

Not really seeing a problem here.

(Also the C in Chinese is supposed to be capitalized please fix this)

This is specifically a straight live action Chinese adaptation from the eighties, not one that's sort of adapted like Saiyuki or Dragon Ball. The version you're speaking of is a Japanese adaptation I'm also trying to get my hands on.

    ^It's a problem because I don't speak Chinese.
  • I watched it all the time when I was a kid. It was very fun. I say that it is the best adaptation ever of Journey to the West, period. The special effects are painful to look at, but the acting and story is very good.
  • I watched an adaptation called Monkey. Had a real catchy theme.

BORN FROM AN EGG ON A MOUNTAIN TOP. MONKEY IS ONE THING YOU'RE NEVER GONNA STOP. HE KNOWS EVERY MAGIC TRICK UNDER THE SUN.

I have a box set with every episode on it.

Man, that theme song is awesome. Is that series of yours Chinese too?
  • I actually think it was originally Japanese, mines is a comedy dub though, as it was on BBC2 years ago.
  • Having just checked, I can say it's from Japan. Where it was called Saiyuki. (A totally different comic called Saiyuki happens to be my favourite Manga of all time).
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
Did anyone see the people behind the band Gorillaz live mandarin opera Monkey: Journey to the West when it was being shown about?

    As it was awesome.

^^ "Saiyuki" is actually the Japanese name for the Journey to the West legend, so chances are there are like five hundred million manga, anime, live-action and possibly even stage musical adaptations that all have that name.

Sort of like how most movies about Hercules are called "Hercules" (it would be a twist for one of them to be called "Heracles" for once)
  • I stand on Grendel's shoulders
Conductor: Are you talking about Gensoumaden Saiyuki?

    As in, this Saiyuki?

  • Moe: I know.

    Anne: Yes.
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
    For some reason...
BORN FROM AN EGG ON A MOUNTAIN TOP. MONKEY IS ONE THING YOU'RE NEVER GONNA STOP. HE KNOWS EVERY MAGIC TRICK UNDER THE SUN.

I have a box set with every episode on it.
I sang this to the tune of Davy Crockett.
