I must be the worst troper / IJBMer ever
I'm not all that into anime (and for the record, I think subs and dubs are both fine), I don't have a hate-on for popular music / movies, I think katanas are overrated (rapiers, broadswords, lances, tonfas and sais, anyone?) and I don't automatically love everything that comes out of GLORIOUS NIPPON. I don't hate children, yet at the same time, don't want to have sex with them. On that note, I'm not a jaded, hyper-cynical misanthropic mess, I'm not an unnaturally upbeat manchild who thinks everything is "OMG SO WONDERFUL AND PERFECT!

I'm not interested in having the same debate over politics / religion / philosophy / worldviews every other week. I don't think nostalgia is a bad thing, nor do I think it's a good excuse to bash something you don't like.

I don't consistently have fantasies of mutilating, torturing, murdering or even pestering anyone, real or fictional. I seem to be one of the few tropers who isn't scared by nearly everything, yet also doesn't have a hard-on for nearly everything. I don't think the internet exists to serve as my virtual therapist. I don't think sex is the best thing ever, nor do I think it's a horrible plight upon humanity that must be avoided at all costs (same with babies, marriage, love, etc.), I think lying to yourself and saying you're asexual when you aren't while hoping it'll become true someday is both stupid and insulting (same for pansexual, and really every other sexuality). Even though I do believe someone can be brilliant but lazy, I think anyone who flaunts the title like so many around these parts do is just deluding themselves (same with the slacker, deadpan snarker, and all of those other great tropes that really aren't as common in real life as people seem to think). While not fitting any of the typical troper / IJBM personality types, I'm also not enough of a self-important dick to get away with it. I'm just a fairly normal (for a loose definition of normal, anyway) person interesting in the patterns that show up in media and venting every once in a while, and while I'm not saying this to be insulting, I'm sure a bunch of people are still going to take offense to it.
Since I'm sure a ban is inevitable, I'll just say it was nice knowing all of you. ^_^

I agree with pretty much everything you said sans the anime part and I think that there are plenty of people who share the same opinion on most everything you mentioned. I feel like you might be generalizing or referring to an average troper/IJBMer that only exists in the averaged aggregate rather than in the form of an individual. I could be wrong though.
Bob, most people are much more well-rounded than you're giving them credit for. It sounds like you're judging all tropers based solely on the more heated arguments in OTC.
I usually have it set on one to three of them. Maybe five if it's really awesome or disgusting.
Serious answer: While I agree that most of those traits are attributable
to tropers in general, I don't really think there are many specific
tropers that fit many of these traits.
Granted, some of those things were stuff I was thinking, but still.
Some of my other favorites come from emo/hardcore music, and dressing up in rarely seen styles or dark gothic clothing, while also spending a lot of time on VF, Gaia, and
FacebookMyspace. Sometimes I stray away from the mainstream and seek out bands I've never heard of and becoming a fan of them, because it's unique and unheard of. I like to draw things, ranging from monsters, animesque cartoons and hentai, while also collecting strange YTP [MAD] remixes of things I find.I spend a lot of time at night on the computer, and in the morning, but on days when people are throwing a shitfit I just hang out with my friends or tend to the needs of my fish. I flirt a lot, drive cars around, go bowling, go fishing, hiking, hanging out at the library, and sometimes hanging out at parties.
Some of my favorite shows are Beavis and Butthead, Family Guy, Ugly Americans, King of the Hill, American Dad and Avatar TLA. I watched TLA almost all the way through, just missing some of the Earth Chapter and Water Chapter. I play Yugioh and MTG, while also becoming addicted recently to Minecraft and TF2. I dwelled a bit in the Scarlet Rhapsody and Hisotensoku, and have VBA on my computer with a few pokemon/touhoumon roms, along with my completely max'd out Fire Emblem TSS rom. I installed Lunar Magic and made some Super Mario Hell maps.
I enjoy anime but rarely watch it, one of my main favorites being Higurashi, Elfen Lied, Maria Holic, and Death Note, about the only ones I am an active shipper and fanwriter of.
I came into a community of people who just fucking hate rabid shippers, pop valley libbies, mainsteam advocators, hipsters, goths, the LCD plague, sheep, GAMER GURLzzz, Livejournal writers, Linkin Park fans, Elfen Lied/Inuyasha fans, Fan Dumb, Meta Snarkers, passive aggressive people, bad hominem bringers, psychotic/bipolar people, bawwtistics, newfags and mostly anyone who likes cute things and a various amounts of other things. In general when I was first getting into all of this there was this heavy layer of stupid bullshit I had to push through in order to get to the core of what entertained me about IJBM/TV Tropes, and while this probably is one of the worst forum communities I've ever been too, and the attitudes are absolutely disgusting, I have never met a bunch of folks that could enjoy works and games I've liked other than you guys, since most of you are hardwired to the internet and things you enjoy, and generally don't care about normal social cues.
Most of my friends care very little about anime, video games, YTP or anything going on, because they would rather do something else, and I couldn't get into a religious/political argument with them even if I tried. They just don't give a fuck about things like that, because they generally go the way of "sorry but I don't give a fuck" avenue, so it's easy to be calmer with them and just have fun without worrying about the world dicking with us.
Bob, you are probably one of the only people on here that even resemble the people I find the most entertaining and relatable on this site.
