MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
    ^^^I gain nothing from subtlety.

^^^^This isn't a nerd thing. This is a 'one of the landmarks of modern film' thing. It's like if Kevin Smith tried to remake North By Northwest.

^^We have souls... the souls of Christian babies we eat.
  • Looking at Videodrome's wikipedia article, it just seems like trashy shock-effect bullcrap.
  • You can change. You can.
Dude, it's Videodrome. How can that possibly compare with North by Northwest?
  • also holy fuck the plot makes no sense

^^^It is so so so much more. Trust me. It's probably the best take on television affecting culture and attitudes towards exploitation TV out there.

Also, it's not just me. It's gotten plenty of genuine accolades.

^That doesn't make it not amazing. See also: Eraserhead.

^^Mainly just talking about travesties in remakes.

I'm not against remakes in general,  but some shit just shouldn't be touched.
  • Okay, if it such a good take, I'll take your word for it.

But we all know it will be dumbed down for the pathetic, imbecilic, and intellectually corrupt mainstream.

Oh, and evidently some jackoff's trying to push a Blade Runner remake.

Ugh, who wants to bet they'll make it all slick and Matrix-esque?

Jesus Christ, this better be trolling. This is my favorite movie.
  • You can change. You can.
Blade Runner does need some improvement, man. Amittedly, it's not Ridley Scott's fault

as long as Chris Nolan is on it, I'm A-OK.
  • Blade Runner, huh?

My dad would drag me to that for sure--it's one of his favorite movies of all time.
  • pathetic, imbecilic, and intellectually corrupt mainstream

    Someone call me?

(has no idea what videodrome is)

I seriously don't see how a remake would improve it, though Nolan being behind it is the one thing that might mean I'd consider maybe possibly seeing it.

^^It's really really really really good. It's pretty much the preamble to cyberpunk.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
    ^^ Hehehe

Maybe make it more noirish? I don't know. I just felt the movie was way too sci-fi, when I think it should have been some sort of sci-fi noir deal. Of course, that's just me stereotyping PIs, but I think such a reinvention would be cool, if done right.

And as Nolan has said that Blade Runner is the reason e's into film, and his favorite movie ever...well, we know he won't mistreat it.

Eh, I still think it's plenty noir-influenced. It's just not the primary focus.

I know Nolan wouldn't mistreat it, though it's possible he wouldn't touch it for the exact same reason.
  • You can change. You can.
Yeah, but I wnt moar noir. What's so hard to understand about that? :c

Yeah, but I think that if it's inevitable...well...he'd pull a Zack Snyder and throw whoever came up to try off the director's chair simply by his name along.

A sci-fi noir story is actually one of the ideas buzzing around in my head. You'd think it'd be a more popular genre mash.
  • There's ton of Sci-fi Horror.

    Alien for one.

    The Thing

    The Relic

    The Item

Not to mention pretty much every B-horror film from the fifties.

Dude, at least it's not "Noir in high school" or some shit.

Yes, I did love Brick and Veronica Mars.

Wonder if there's more stuff like that.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Veronica Mars is a show that is way better than it has any right to be.
  • Eh, it's not like they'll burn all the original copies of Videodrome if this gets released.

You never know, Myr. You never know.
