I have no idea how people can believe in such sophistic nonsense after the Schön scandal conclusively proved that it's all a bunch of nonsense held together by force of personality and internal politics.

Just look at this example of physicist jargon that I pulled from Wikipedia.

"The position and momentum of the particle are observables. The Uncertainty Principle states that both the position and the momentum cannot simultaneously be measured with full precision at the same time. However, one can measure the position alone of a moving free particle creating an eigenstate of position with a wavefunction that is very large (a Dirac delta) at a particular position x and zero everywhere else. If one performs a position measurement on such a wavefunction, the result x will be obtained with 100% probability (full certainty). This is called an eigenstate of position (mathematically more precise: a generalized position eigenstate (eigendistribution)). See? Can you undestand that? I can't. Which means that no one, anywhere, could ever understand it, and it's all just a bunch of garbled nonsense, because it is literally impossible for thousands of people of incredible intelligence to understand something that I, an educated yahoo cannot.

That part's pretty tame as far as quantum goes.  Schrodinger equations though, *shudder*.  They stay on particle-in-a-box until you're blue in the face, and then when you finally try something more interesting it burns your hair off.

Um, but the Schön scandal wasn't sophistry.  Schön's work would have made total sense if his data were right, but his data was made up.  In fact, that's a much subtler type of problem than Sokal or even Bogdanoff or Naschie.
