  • wait Chagen do you have N Word Privileges?
  • Yes. I'm half-black. I just don't express them very often.

    Kichigai birthday!!
    He's half-black I think

    Got nigganinja'd
  • I wasn't sure if it still applied if you were "half black" you know?
  • And some people don't need help.
Some people just need everyone to stop hindering them.
Some people just need everyone else to just drop dead.

    Now wouldn't that be lovely?

... Not necessarily talking about anyone here. You're all wonderful people.
  • i'm a misanthrope so yes.
  • Some bros need meds, or hobbies, or a spine, or get laid, or get out more, or get over themselves.

Or it's an escapist fantasy that's actually a lot less disturbing than some more commonly accepted things, like fantasizing about people in your social circle. As long as you can distinguish between fiction and reality, who gives a damn?

  • That's the point, Addict.

These men are incapable of distinguishing between fantasy and reality. They have deluded themselves into thinking a fictional character loves them. They fucking talk to these fictional women, my god.

Remember that "TvTropes encourages bad behaviors" meme?

I finally understand why people say it now.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
Oh my, I always assumed the mai waifu thing was just for shits and giggles.
  • Kichigai birthday!!
"The following is also discouraged (but not necessarily against the rules).

    - 3D (real) images of people. (yes, seriously.)

    - Using sideways (western) emoticons.

    - Talking about your friends and real life aquaintances."

    Dohohohohohoh

^^^ From the tohno thread you linked to some time ago, I got the impression that they don't literally believe they're real. Are you sure about that?

Edit: ^ Now that's just silly.
  • "From the tohno thread you linked to some time ago, I got the impression that they don't literally believe they're real. Are you sure about that?"

Some do. Some of them are that off-the-wall.
  • To be honest, how is this different than roleplaying or cybering, or self-insert lemons? I can't really judge whether or not they're the ronery otakus who marry their bodypillows, or bros who're doing some mental masturbation before returning to the daily grind of their lives.

Which is one of the reasons why I suspect talking about meatspace stuff is discouraged, as not to make one or the other feel uncomfortable on the site.

  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
    >self-insert lemons
    What?
I only have one mental image and I doubt it is the right one.

  • Kichigai birthday!!
I think lemon is some sort of erotic fan fic
  • A "Lemon" is a sexually explicit fic that has some kind of hardcore sex in it.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
    Oh, ok.
Then I know a great site with loads of stories like that.
    trollface.jpg
  • We're not falling for that one.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
It almost seems similar to that soulbonding thing that the DLC poster made a blog of.
  • It's different.

    And still really goddamn dumb.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
    Eh superficially similar at least.
Having relationships with fictional characters that affects their real life.
  • Talking about your friends and real life aquaintances.

It's so the other members don't get jealous.
  • They probably don't do it because they might think it'll cause some drama.
  • Chagen... I'd actually bet you money they CAN distinguish between fantasy and reality.

What I'm saying here is... NEVER overestimate the sincerity of the Internet.

Yes, people are retards. People in general are amazingly stupid. So fucking retarded that they'll make you recoil from the screen in shock every time...
    BUT
The most important thing to remember is that all people... especially mundies, but pretty much ALL people.... exaggerate on the Internet. Some exaggerate slightly. Some exaggerate right the way around the back of Pluto to the point where what they're saying bears NO resemblance whatsoever to what they actually mean.

    But yeah...
    These guys you've linked to?
I can read through to what they ACTUALLY mean easily enough... I've spent a lot of time on the Internet.
I spent over a decade in a community that consisted about 50% of furries (the crazy thing was that most of the old-sk00l furries were ... well... quite old). I then spent a few months on the Livejournal Otakin community like a regular Jane Goodall ... and only left when some twats accused me of being one of them (rather than the honest truth that I was hanging around them because they're an endless fountain of lulz) ...

And y'know... even those Otakin... I doubt as much as 80% of them actually took it seriously, and meant it sincerely.  Those who did... well, I could tell. Some of them had left planet earth years ago...

  • The problem with that DLC dudette was that she started to insert her particular brand of lunacy into conversations that didn't relate to that sort of shit. That's the point where you make an oddball hobby into a screwed-up lifestyle.

  • What brand of lunacy was DLC(whoever that is)?
  • You can change. You can.
Dark Lady Celebrian was a soulbonder.

apart from that, I know shit about it.
  • Wut?
    Downloadable Content?
  • I think it stands for Darkhouse Lighthouse Comics.
