    GMH that is more recent and is high end. Yume Nikki should be playable on anything purchased in the past 5* years.

    Refund went through. Ordered the SSD, as well as Ex Machina Volume 1, Y: The Last Man Volume 1, Pokemon Ruby and the one Ace Attorney game I didn't have.

    Okay, I'll make a list of things I've tried

    Games that work perfectly:

    MUGEN
    The Higurashi Visual Novels
    I Wanna Be The Guy
    GBA emulators

    Games that don't work

    Yume Nikki: It goes very slow when entering one of the worlds or trying to save, the words on the menu don't show up, I can only enter to a world once,when I try to enter a second one the game shuts itself
    Portal demo from Steam: It shows the Valve logo and then stops working
    Desmume emulator: It doesn't show any image,only sound
    No&gba emulator: I tried two different roms, Pokemon White and HeartGold. When I try to enter the anti-piratery Action Replay code for White,it gives me this error. With HeartGold, it works fine when choosing and naming my character, but the image doesn't show up after that,just like in Desmume.
    Ubuntu (not a game but whatever): It doesn't recognize any screen, so it sets to default 800x600 and looks like shit. Besides, it freezes randomly

    tl:dr My Windows 7 running computer from 2010 is a piece of shit

    That, and you can apparently build an equivalent computer yourself for around $500 compared to an Alienware's $500 (don't know what that is in pounds).

    I've heard a lot about Alienware being a good choice for heavy gamers but what's so good about them?

    * The Ubuntu issue sounds like it doesn't have the right display driver for your screen.  It also highlights why I think all computer screens should be 4:3.
    * Desmume: Get yourself the appropriate choice between 32-bit and 64-bit, and then try running a few other games.
    * NO$GBA: I have personally confirmed Mega Man ZX to work on this, so try that.

    I don't know why you're having this trouble; I have a Windows 7 machine and I'm not having much trouble at all.

    Maybe you have severe hardware issues.  Or limitations.  How much RAM and processor speed do you have?

    A lot of the time when I post something, I have to make sure I'm actually right first (because invariably, if I don't fact-check, I end up getting it wrong).  Also, if I'm typing anything that takes more than 10 seconds to type, I have to refresh the page a few times in another tab while I'm writing my post to make sure I don't get ninja'd.  This doesn't usually work out and I end up getting ninja'd more because of it.

    It's not hardware, since my sister's computer is worse than mine in all regards and works perfectly.

    I think it is my version of Windows 7. To give a bit of backstory, my computer used to have Vista and it was utter shit, so I had to end up changing it. I decided to install Ubuntu, but I fucked up and installed over Vista instead of in a partition. As you know, Ubuntu didn't work, and when I bought the computer it didn't come with the Windows Installing DVD. So my sister had to download Windows 7 for me. The problem is that she downloaded a pirated version,and the guy who made it removed several things supposedly to make it run faster (for example, all lenguage packs but Spanish are removed) so I think it comes from that. And yeah,I know pirating is bad, but my family doesn't really have the money right now

    ^^ I only tried one, but I got bored of it. I used this one, which includes PS2 artwork, though I thing there's a way to remove it if you want bear hands.

    My SSD finally arrived. I've spent most of the day assembling my computer.

    All I've got left to do is figure out how the hell you install the CD drive in this case and plug in a bunch of cables.

    Oh, and install Windows. That's kinda important.
