Hipster Hate

edited 2011-02-17 00:57:07 in General
I figured out the only people who don't dislike hipsters are other hipsters, because they don't like hating what the mainstream hates.

Also, I think I might be a hipster. Or not.

I have weird music interests, and I have an iPod.

  • I know I'm not a hipster, even if I'm not entirely sure what a hipster is. I think the main point, though is eschewing the mainstream.

I tend to have weird musical tastes, but I like mainstream stuff as well, thus not hipster. Also, I don't like PBR.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
I like mainstream stuff and more cult-style things.
  • But you never had any to begin with.
Does hipster even have a proper meaning now? I've heard people called hipsters for a lot of silly things.
  • I'm still pretty confused as to what a hipster is.  Are the like, people who go to "trendy" clubs and wear their hair all emo style, but they don't count as emo because they're less "My life is so miserable and none of it is my fault!" and more "Everything is meh and none of it is my fault."  Am I on the right track?  Anyway, I don't hate hipsters, but I don't think that I've ever met one in person.  Most of the kids in my area are stoners.
  • I want to be a hipster. Only ironically, though.
  • I hated Hipsters before it was cool to hate Hipsters.
  • The only thing I don't like about hipsters is the music elitism.  Of course, I'm still not even all that sure of what a hipster is.
  • Just go "Ha, you listen to shitty unpopular music" and laugh.
  • I'm more angry about being on the receiving end of it, really.  Back when I listened to GWAR, my friends all made fun of me for listening to a band they'd never heard of.  One year later, GWAR became popular in my area, and guess what all of my friends listen to now?
  • What, you don't like them?  Or you've never heard of them, I guess.  They're these guys: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gwar ; Also, obligatory linkage to their stuff:

Whatever, it's not like it really matters.  My point is that music elitism is teh suck.
  • I've been told wearing plaid makes me a hipster, as well as wearing shirts that droop to my thighs.
