Look. Any fucking card in the game can be counterspelled if you try hard enough.
That doesn't mean it's bad. It means that it can be counterspelled. How fucking hard is this to understand jesus

It probably doesn't happen any more, and probably only happened on that one site, but when MtG spoilers appeared, for every 3 or more mana card that doesn't read "[card] can't be countered by spells or abilities", there were usually lots of comments about how a particular card sucks because it could be counterspelled (without that card having any particular consequence if it doesn't resolve)]
