  • I know you're just bullshitting Myrm but the concept of separation of church and state is illustrated quite well in the US Constitution as I will outline.

    Article VI, paragraph 3,
The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of
the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers,
both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by
Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.

As well as the first clause of the First Amendment

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or
of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition
the Government for a redress of
    grievances.

Mr. The Edge goes to Washington
Yes yes, copypasta is delicious, but said Congress' opinion is biased by religion. They are making a big to-do out of something that will not really change the moral fabric of the nation. It's just unfair to a lot of people that a sheep mentality can hold them back like that. After all, we know enough of the government is so deep in the closet that they are having afternoon tea with R. Kelly.
  • R. Kelly. Didn't he pee on a girl?
  • Mr. The Edge goes to Washington

Yeah, he did. That was gross, but meh, not my fetish.

  • Tnu: Be warned. Many Americans want a religious test so that only Aryan Heterosexual Christians can be president.
  • That's what worries me.  the fact that we've already violated the constitut8ion so much already worries me.
  • Mr. The Edge goes to Washington

Members of the government should be free to observe whatever religion they choose, but their religion should not effect the freedom of others. Basically, they should be non-biased and open-minded in their decision making... Oh crap, I forgot about lobbyists.

  • as much as I hate lobbies I think they are constitutional under the "petition" part of the first amendment. however most of what lobbies do as in lobbying for special favors and protections would not fall under redress.
  • Mr. The Edge goes to Washington
Well, that makes me depressed. Interesting derailing though. Rebecca Black to Lobbyists. They do have a lot in common though.
  • Derails happen all the time Mr. The Edge.
  • Mr. The Edge goes to Washington
I know. Isn't it great? Except for trains. That's terrible.
  • What Counterclock said.
