It doesn't; the fact that Titanic's story and themes are pretty much gibberish does.
Movies have themes practically by definition, though.
No but it's "Watch pretty people flirt before a ship crashes into an iceberg". Even then movies like Transformers have a "story to tell". The fact is that it's not the "story it has to tell" what makes a movie good or bad but simply the fact that the story it tells is just...well, pretty people flirting. Yes at the end the movie attempts some depth by having that romance be jacked away from them but otherwise there's not much going on there in terms of characterization or plot.
I have never seen anyone say that Titanic is good in my life outside of a nebulous non-speaking collective that never seems to be able to explain the appeal of the story to me.
Well, I didn't just mean the story but the whole thing but I guess that's what I get for just saying "story"
@ hate-sperging over Titanic:
Apparently, several people did.
Anyways,
lik dis if you criy everytim
Except that the giant robot fights make up an unreasonably small portion of the movie and also they aren't really all that good even when they happen.
>half a page of Titanic sperg
Wow. I mean, I think the movie is as garbage as anyone else here, but I just thought the Cereal Guy comic was funny.
Braid at least had the advantage of a fun mechanic and creative puzzles (i.e., a decent game) in between the LOOK AT ME I'M SO ABSTRACT diary entries that you didn't actually have to read. And the last level was a genuine WTF moment.
Oh, yeah. Braid is definitely a fun and innovative game, and should have gotten a reputation for that, but instead it got a reputation for artistic qualities it was only vaguely pretending to have.
ugh can we do without the whole "Complaining about people discussing stuff" routine? It gets just as annoying as what you're complaining and even worse because you're using stupid internet memes as if they were somehow better.
Meh. The overall surreal aesthetic worked for what they were going for as a background to a necessarily surreal mechanic. Pretentious abstract can work when it acts behind substance.
^ Oh please, you know I know I'm no better than the rest of you about this :P
Check out Recent Activity, bro.
The particular choice of pretentious bullshit textdumps was vaguely related to the mechanics (some of it, at least), but it was also entirely unnecessary.
^I think he was talking to Bee.
I was talking mostly to Firebert.
^^ You are a gentleman and a scholar and I do wish to have babies with you in a purely heterosexual way.
Oh, okay then >.>
^^ Why, I'm flattered. But I wasn't even awake when he was banned. Have your babies with CU, not me. :P
sometimes you shoot the messengers
other times you just try to get him into bed
that's how people work right
That's what I've learned from entertainment media, yes.
^Pretty sure there's been at least one.
Presumably a few scales fall off or something.
Tyrion's first appereance involves blowjobs.
how do i remember this
It's Tyrion. Even if you hadn't seen that scene, it would be a pretty good bet.
